I recently moved from Tennessee to North carolina. Prior to the move I had my mechanic check out my 93 metro 1.0L with 220,000 miles to see if it would survive the trip and to top off fluids etc.
The day I left I checked the oil and found it was overfilled by about 1/4 quart. I did not have time to drain the excess so away I went on a 7 hr drive.
About two hours into the drive I was going up a slight hill when I noticed a blue smoke screen behind my car. It was so dense I could not see the car behind me. My first thought that the old girl had given up on me but the engine was still running fine and made no strange sounds. After about ten seconds the car returned to normal.
I stopped at a rest stop and noticed the oil level was back on full. I drove the rest of the trip without any more trouble and after one month of driving I see no unusual oil consumption and the car still runs perfectly.
Any ideas on what might have happened? Did the car purge the extra overfilled oil?

All you did was put to much oil in. I did the same thing but try not to do it again. The smoke you were seeing was the car burrning the over flow of oil. I know how u felt it scard the hell out of me when i seen all that smoke.

the oil goes into the air cleaner housing and when you go up a hill it pours into the tb causing the smoke. might check your pcv valve and make sure hose isn't plugged
