Hi my 97 Yukon just gave me a workout!! I was turning into my apartment complex and all of sudden my steering was stiff. I had the hardest time turning the wheel at full circle at any direction. My powering steering fluid was normal except it looked a little dirty. The tires turned, it just takes a lot of energy to do so. Can someone please help me.

Sounds like a pump issue (no pressure)
Sometimes the shaft will break at the pump, the pully will turn, but the pump will not biult pressure.
Are you sure the belt didn't break?

I just back from checking my Yukon and I didn't see any broken or loose belts. I turned on the engine, warmed it up for about 10 minutes before I tried to turn the steering wheel and its still the same. Very hard to turn, no leaks, I did notice that when I switched the gear into drive and reverse I heard like a "ting" sound coming from under the car. Could it be that my power steering fluid. I checked the power steering fluid level and it was fine....with the exception that it looked pretty dirty. Can this be the reason?
