A question...

If you're approaching a turn in 4th gear for example, and it's one that you have to be in 2nd coming out of it, is there any reason why some people shift down to 3rd, and then to 2nd (instead of just going from 4th to 2nd)?
I've seen this done, and don't know the reason for it... I'm almost positive that the shifting (from 4th to 3rd to 2nd) is done with the clutch (pedal) in as well - though I could be wrong I guess.
Not to important, but it's something I've wondered about.

I always hook the shifter around from 4th to 2nd. Maybe they are really keen on engine braking or they don't trust their shiftgate or something...

Yeah, take care of your tranny, what has it ever done to you?

if you go third, you can use the force of the engine to help slow you, also, if you ride your brakes too hard, you can loose them, so putting stress on the tranny and brakes is alot better than brakes giving out and needing a new car, maby a few limbs
