I bought an '06 350z so now I can put that Tamiya model kit to good use:grinyes:
She is chrome silver and I have already added a few (minor) mods to it!

S2k antenna, Nismo Exhaust and potentially some Volk CE28N or SF Challenges.

Not sure about replicating the exhaust, maybe just add "nismo" decals to the kit-supplied tips?

I will use heated plastic sprue for the antenna

I have those same TE37's on mine. I think they fit the car well even if they are kind of played out now.

Resumed work on the Z...

Interior:

Chassis: I'm trying to duplicate the overspray/undercoat. Can't beleive the exhaust/suspension is completely molded in!

Looking good! Both the 1:1 and 1:24 Too bad there aren't a whole lot of mods for you to recreate - no one can do that quite like you can. Would you like the antenna out of an S2000 kit? I tend not to use them, for some reason.

Hey Will! Yup I like the Z plain and simple. No silly body kits/wings. Just suspension and engine mods.
I'll take the S2k kit antenna, didn't think about that!

I need help with 2 things:
1) Where can I find a "Nismo" decal to fit on the exhaust tips? It doesn't have to be white:
http://inlinethumb05.webshots.com/4100/2226981800097873302S600x600Q85.jpg (http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2226981800097873302YHfYmj)

2) How are folks duplicating the side "Z" emblem? The metal transfer is flat but the 1:1 has some dimension to it like a hemisphere:
http://inlinethumb21.webshots.com/4692/2089314760097873302S600x600Q85.jpg (http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2089314760097873302pMlUuy)
Put a blob of flat black on, wait for it to dry then put the metal transfer on?

for the z emblem on the side. put the metal transfer on, then use a brush to fill in the black areas, and wipe off the excess off the metal.

I think the new Aoshima kit coming soon has the correct 5 spoke wheels. Probably has a better chassis as well.

The hood is separate, so is the luggage compartment. The newer hood could easily be coming later, and perhaps a convertible?

Not to hijack the thread, but I've a couple questions about the new Aoshima Z. First, if the taillights are molded in color - will the option parts version have all the all-red lights as well as the clear/red ones? And second, is there anywhere not HLJ to pre-order these kits? For some reason, the Aoshima kit as caught my imagination where the Tamiya one didn't.

Thanks for the link...cool!!!!!!!!
Looks like they reproduced the wheels accurately, even got the LED tails and front grille!!!
Will how does the Aoshima kit impress you where the Tamiya didn't...what's up your sleeve:grinyes:

Chassis detailing almost finished. I added the 02 sensors with wiring. I tried to simulate the polished stainless steel muffler with chrome paint...thought BMF might be too bright.
I might duplicate the rear bracing with plastic sheet and add the fuel/brake lines.

great detail work on the ce28's, they are one (of many) of my dream wheels. I always like seeing replicas of owner cars, they tend to have a bit more soul put into the builds, great work so far

Are these blue lights simulating HID's or what? Are these specific to the JDM market? I love them, just wondering where they originate from.

Very nice! I too have a 1:1 Z, so I was excited to get the Tamiya kit. But I was very dissapointed when I opened the box and saw the chassis. :-( I can't believe they molded everything in!!

Anyway, nice work so far. I'm just about ready to start my build, and seeing what you've managed to do with the chassis is inspiring.

HLJ just shipped my Aoshima Z and I can't wait. Your updates make me wish it would get here tomorrow! This is a fun build to watch - and no doubt to do, to replicate your 1:1. Like I know I've said in your WIPs before, I love all the little details you add, like the sensors, the antenna, the wheels, and those amazing headlights (how'd you do that?!). Can't wait to see more.

I am dissappointed with the kit too! Molded in chassis is a pain and modding the ride height is tough.
What sucks even more is that like Willimo said Aoshima came out with a kick-ass '06 Z33 kit so it has the accurate lights, led tails, front grille, etc.

-I have Bi-Xenon HID's on my Z(standard for '06USDM), thought it would be cool to paint the lenses clear blue:grinyes:
-I ordered a grip of Aoshima kits, shipped last week can't wait!
