My daughters 2004 Grand Am has just started squeaking. It sounds like it is coming from under the hood. It does it while driving forwards or in reverse. It stops when the brake is pressed or when the car is idling in park or drive. Turning the wheel doesn't cause it to happen. I don't think it is suspension because bumps or no bumps, it happens. The noise stopping when the brakes are pressed has got me stumped. Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like a brake Pad is draging or the wear indicator is saying "replace me !"
And Welcome to AF.

I don't want to sound like an ignorant person because I don't know of your knowledge of GA's but could it possibly be the warning tabs on the brake pads. How many miles does she have on the pads that are on there by chance? Seems like one of the easiest explanations..
