My gas gauge stays at full most of the time, once in a while it jumps around. I'm thinking bad sending unit, how do I check to make sure?

Welcome to the forum!

An open circuit will indicate a full tank, (or more). A short circuit will indicate an empty tank. Check the ground connection to the frame: driver side near the tank, 14ga black wire. If it is clean and tight, disconnect the connector on the top of the tank, (gauge should indicate full) and inspect the connector and sending unit terminals for corrosion. Ground the fuel sender wire and it should indicate empty. If all checks ok, your fuel level sending unit is faulty.
