I recently purchased a beautiful looking 1995 V8 5.7L Firebird. I was driving it about 40 miles an hour when it just cut out. I originally thought that this was becasue the gauges were not correct and i had run out of gas becsue thats what it felt like. I put 2 gallons of gas in it and tried to start it up and the engine would turn but it wouldn't turn on. I listened for the fuel pump and it sounded like it was comming on. From here, I am going to replace the ignition coil and hope that it fixes the problem. If this does not work, where should i go from there? Please help im a broke college student!

Just because you can hear the fuel pump doesn't mean its working properly. Or it could be a clogged fuel filter. Of course, it could be that damn opti. Might need a good tune up as well.

Thanks, I replaced the coil and that wasn't it, so i figured it was more than a parking lot job so i had the car towed to the nearest pontiac gm dealer. We will see what that diagnostic that cost me 86 dollars says. After talkin to a couple buddys, rumor has it that it might be that damn opti spark system but we will have to see tommarow.
