Code 22 - Tps Signal Voltage Low

What causes This?

I Replaced Tps Sensor back in november, except that was a code 21 signal voltage high. is there something going on that is causing my sensors to mess up?

and would this cause the car to just die out while driving slow , the car just loses all power and the dashboard lights come on . i pull over and it restarts fine. just annoying

There are different things that dont give codes that stop the engine.
The Crankshaft sensor for one. Sometimes gives CAMSHaft sensor..The car will just die at any speed suprising the driver. Kindof violent suprise at speed. Elsewise often when turning and accelerating was my experience.. Bad if your turning in front of on comming cars at a light or something.
Discribe your car stall events as best you can, please.
Another is fuel ..
Improper function of the Fuel pump will starve the engine and wont provide the quantity it needs. After a pull over it repressures the fuel system and goes again. More often it sputters first or has low or much less power during high power demands such as uphill grades at highway speed.

Depending on your car the IAC controller can get dirty and when the throttle is returned to idle the car dies.
A new TPS is not as prone to get dirty so quickly and that would point to the connectors, wires all the way back to the PCM. Theres not much in between and trust has to be put on the PCM at first.

What year car and what engine do you have?

On the TPS we are looking at a pot. It may be another bad unit or wire. The PCM sets what it sees after a measurement of the system.
It would be good to erase codes, have a event and recheck codes quickly, verify and check every inch you can on the wires. It may be a connector loose, there are three I can think of.

Good Luck

Did you backprobe the wiring to set the TPS when replaced?

The voltage, engine off key in run should be at .48V closed throttle and 4.5 - 5V wide open throttle.

:iagree:
Your stalling could be fuel related, especially if your car is a 97-2000 LeSabre. Many of these had a recall for faulty fuel pressure regulators.
:1zhelp:Please include the year of your car when posting!:dunno:

The TPS is not adjustable per say, however, when you replace the TPS, you do need to check the TPS input & output for proper voltage. The TPS can move slightly on the mounting screws and cause a low or high voltage fault. The TPS is simply a potentiometer used to vary voltage. The best way to check the voltage is with a scanner, but if you do not have access to one, you can use a DVOM. The TPS WHITE wire is the PCM reference signal and should measure 5.0v with ignition on. (Engine does not need to be running) The BLUE wire will show variable voltage from a closed TB position, usually .45v, up to WOT, where it should measure between 4.0v to 4.5v max. The BLACK wire is ground.

Given the code is 22 I have to ass-u-me it's a OBD Iso pre-94 . :dunno:

its a 1993 buick lesabre . this is what i have done , i went and got a used tps sensor and replaced the old one . everything is working fine now . but just like i noticed on the tps sensors that i changed on the car 2 months ago. this tps has dried up green coolant around it . im thinking maybe coolant is drippin from somewhere and "shorting" out the sensor... possible?

Stalling

2 days ago , the car didnt stall at all the whole day , yesterday morning before i installed the new tps sensor the car stalled once , randomly , i didnt even expect it , i was driving about 5 mph straight before it happened , so i know its not only happening when im at a stop light turning . since i changed the new sensor it hasnt stalled so far. but its only been a day.

Start with the basics..
Fuel or Ignition.. 5mph?

I lean towards ignition.
Coil pack, Ignition module, Crankshaft sensor.

Good Luck
