A new pump should come with a new pulley. You'd need a gear puller or a press to remove the original pulley.

I used a puller from Napa to take mine off and put it back onto a rebuilt pump.

FYI: I wouldn't recommend a rebuilt from an aftermarket place - The one I put on whined louder than the one I replaced. I even used Valvoline synthetic, no help. And yes, I bled it (for the comments that are sure to follow).

Your input shaft is broken (from the old pump)...remember that GM had a recall in 2004 for this problem...check if your SUV was part of it.
Regarding the pulley removing, yes , you'll need a puller and for installing you should have a kit received with the new remanufactured pump.
Don't worry, in North America are sold annually over half a milion reman pumps and they don't come with pulley so you are not the first one that has to do the job. Look for the puller...all garages have one.
