Yet another exhaust question

OK I'm rebuilding a 97 Civic as a daily driver. I don't want anything loud. I am hoping to get something with a better flow over OE. My current stock system has nearly 140k on it and is rusty in a few spots and will need to be completely replaced by the end of summer so I'm starting my research now before I just slap some crap on there. No loud and "cool sounding" mufflers. If I wanted to annoy myself I'd glue a Maxwell house can on the back of my current muffler and piss into the wind.

Ideally I'd like to find a system whose .5" or so larger. I'm not looking for a significant increase. With new throttle body, air intake system and stage 2 heads from Exospeed, the exhaust would need to balance it all out. Just have to put that on first since it start leeking. :banghead:

Thanks for the help ahead of time. :sunglasse

I could live with a 3" exhaust. My only reservation is the decible output. What brand ru going with?

He's running 3" because he's running high boost on a dohc engine. You would lose power in your sohc engine. Ideally, a 2-2.25" exhaust would work well with a ceramic or stainless steel header, high-flow catalytic converter, resonator and any normal resembling muffler like a flowmaster or equivalent. Alumnized piping can be fabbed up at any local muffler shop and doesn't rust as fast. GL
