i live in vermont and it gets cold...for some reason my truck will not heat up:banghead: the water temp will get up to about 1/3 of the way up and i leave the air on low to medium but no matter what i can't get it to blow hot air, i'm thinking it may be the heater core, but i'm not sure, all i know is that winter isn't over and im still cold, can someone give some suggestions?

might be clogged heater core and you may need a gooood flush. with a good backflush of the heatercore. i am assuming you have a 98? if so it also maybe the heater control valve.

It is a '98, what would it take to flush out the heater core?

in the engine bay remove both hoses in for the heater. there is a device they sell to connect up to it to prevent water from entering the cab hook it up and shoot water into the heater core with the hose i would shoot both sides repeatedly what does your antifreeze look like?

One sure way to determine if your heater core is at fault is after your engine is totally warmed turn your heater on then go to the engine compartment and feel the "delta T" (diff in tempt) between the hose going to the core and the hose leaving. The return should be a little cooler but not much. This is on the assumption that your radiator is doing its job.
