I hear all the time that you shouldnt let your Fuel get down past a 1/4 of a tank cause it might burn the Fuel pump up. IS this just a myth or should you really keep the fuel about A 1/4?

I never let my Fuel gauge drop below a 1/4 of a tank. Because I was told that it could do damage to the Fuel pump. And even during the winter you should never let it drop below a 1/4 of a tank because the fuel lines could freeze.

I agree with nans, it is not a myth. The fuel pump is cooled by being immersed in fuel. When in open air, they run hotter, which can and will lead to premature failure.
