So here's the deal.
I got my ass handed to me last night by a Geo Metro.
Laugh if you must, but to me that's not funny. The Cruiser was beating all hell and this *$#%!!! little yellow pile of crap just kept pulling away from me. I have no idea what was on or in this thing, but it absoutely flew away from me. It was downright disgusting people.
It's time for a new car if something that embarassing happens is my grand conclusion to this disgracefull ordeal, and i can get about 17k
for my cruiser i've decided.
So, here's what i'm looking at.
1. '84 Camaro, but the insurance is gonna kill me.
2. '91 Mustang Cobra, again the insurance.
3. '94 Bonneville SSEI, just like my old one, but this one is white instead
of black.
So what's the verdict folks? Any thoughts? I'll have an estimated 7 grand left over to add mods and get work done and such no matter which one i buy. What's my best call?
I'm leaning towards the Bonneville just cuz i know what it can do, but i'm also debating about whether or not i want something different.
Enter opinions here. :cyclops:

I wouldn't be so quick to ditch the PT. If you've been thinking about doing it anyway, then go ahead... but if its just due to the Geo thing then you should seriously find out what is under the hood. Maybe the guy put a WRX motor in it (you never know).
I am biased in favor of the SSEI, though. The interiors on those things are delicious!:licker:

I would go with a 1991 GT ( didnt make svt cobras till 93) Plenty of cheap parts with big performance benefits. The fox body GTs are fast anyway because of there light weight and conservative hp rating of 225hp. + bucket loads of torque.
Thought you had nitrous on the PT? Maybe they dropped a 350 in the metro? Ususally 3cyl cars dont beat anything.

this guy never fails, you put a mustang into any choice and he'll tell ya to get it.
Guy - "im thinking of buy a new car, my choice is a McClaren F1... or the 85 Mustang GT thats been wrapped around a tree..."
94svt5.0 - "I'd go with the Mustang, its got good aftermarket support. 5.0 all the way baby!"
hahaha, kidding. The Mustang would probably be the best choice between those cars. Its light, has a big motor and has aftermarket support from here to the moon... (GAH! ME support a FJORD product? yes, i do on occasion! haha)
I'd say go for the Camaro... but its an 84... Need I say More? I can tell you what it has already... a 305 and a 5spd. You can look for one with a 350, but are hard to find. And if im not mistaken the 350 models only came in Auto which is a 700R4 transmission. Stay away from any camaro thats got the name Berlinetta attached to it. 2.4l V6 with 112hp sound fun? Hell NO!
If you're really thinking of a Camaro though, get one with a blown up motor. Swap it out for a Vortech 350. Preferably get one that has a 305, swap in the Vortech 350 and dont tell the insurance company. That way you pay for the 305 Camaro but have a modern power 350. Ye-haw!
I guess what it comes down too is, what do you think looks best? Cause no matter what you get you can always make it go faster as long as you throw money at it. And at the looks of things, you're probably going to have plenty... care to share?

The Bonneville is a great choice, especially with a turbo conversion... Grand National power anyone?
I would recommend a 90-91 Grand Prix GTP with the turbo 3.1 and the 5 speed tranny. Those things have good potential, and a decent aftermarket.

I gotta agree with Cbass, except screw turbo, go supercharger like the newer ones, (BE LIKE THE BIRD! supercoupes!.....I now lower my head in shame :( ) hahaha, yes otherwise the mustang, lots of parts, and if that 5.0 can make my bird haul, take off several hundred pounds with the abality to lighten it more...your sittin pretty :bandit:
PT's arnt made too well, and have poor power, for that matter, if you were runnin N2O on stock internals, the motor isnt going to last you all that long, so I say chuck it for one of those cars

Lets see if i can cover everything.........
1. No more NOS on the Pt as the car felt really unstable when i used it.
2. I'm thinkin i might just pick up the Bonneville for the simple fact that
i know it and trust and can do so many things with it.
3. I think i'm ditchin the PT anyways, it was a temporary solution until i
could get over the loss of my old boneville.
4. The old one got wrapped around a tree.
So in summary, it's come down to the stang or the bonneville. I'm not sure which i should be working with, i know that stang will be able to move faster just cuz of the aftermarket potential and everything for it, but i have to agree with db in that the style and class are by far superior..........
I dunno, i'm gonna go and test drive the stang and the bonneville later today, see which one i like, and think about it.
Come Monday i'll probably have a new car, and i'll have questions about how to fix it up.
Cbass, tell me more about this turbo conversion.....what's it cost, what will it do, will i have to do anything to the engine/tranny?
Damn, that was alot of typing ...... :smoker2:

It's not a conversion, they were factory turbo cars... the Mclaren ones(Mclaren engines, not McLaren F1 guys), had all sorts of extra performance goodies.
The 3.1 Turbo was replaced by the 3400TDC, which is a screamer motor, unlike the 3.1 which was fairly balanced.
They also made turbo sunbirds, which were much lighter, but they didn't have as much room, or all the cool luxury stuff as the Grand Prix.
If you want tuning potential, a McLaren GP can make 300hp without sweating it... Up up up the boost, quickly down the street, merrilly merrilly laughing at the hondas you have beat... I should sleep now

ok, first off. I'm sorry about the Geo Metro thing. I always thought I'd laugh when I saw a post that says something like "i got beat by a geo metro" but I saw it and I'm frightened to the very core of my being. I'm frightened because
a) WHO THE FUCK WOULD SOUP A GEO METRO. that is either the ultimate sleeper or the most embarassing stuipd thing in the world
b) It could happen to me. No telling what some people got under those hoods. shoot, if I got beat by a metro, I'd drive my car in to the first brick wall I could find.
Personally, I'd say go 'Stang.

oh that's what I was doing wrong. Shoot, I kept buying stuff for it. Boy was that stupid. So I grabbed a few quarters and threw them at my car in the hopes that it would go faster and it only scratched my paint and made little dents and when I tried it it didn't go any faster! Is there a certain spot I need to throw the money? Do I need to throw dollar bills? I guess I'll wait until it stops being windy outside and then I'll go throw a few Washingtons at it.
