I changed out the blinker switch assy in my 97 tahoe and everything works except the horn. What am I missing? I've taken it aprt twice and can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.

Did the horn work before you did the repair? Did you check the horn mini fuse at the relay center under the hood, 20 amp? I've had problems with sliprings under the steering wheel before, on different vehicles, maybe it isn't that.

The horn button grounds the control side of the horn relay. When the relay is energized, the switch on the load side of the relay closes and the horn gets voltage. Should honk. The horn relay may have a diagram on it, shows which circuits are which, maybe you could test the circuits at the relay.

Thanks. My horn did work before I changed out the blinker switch. I will look for a diagram.

OK. If I short the spring loaded pin that is on the front of the big blinker, wiper, cruise control module, the horn honks. i can't figure out how to trace the path to the steering wheel. Does the air bag have anything to do with it? I don't see how pushing the steering wheel in completes the circuit. thanks.

Alright, forget all I have said. Everybody has their bad day and this was mine. I just forgot to put in the spring loaded bar between the steering wheel and the steering column. Thanks for your help anyway.
