Strangely enough, it's the sensor attached to the back of your throttle that tells the computer the angle that your throttle is open :p :D

Bad news if it's stuffed or has been adjusted/tampered with, as they are factory fixed and set and are damn near impossible to reset properly outside the factory.

Easiest bet is to chuck the whole throttle body and get one complete with the sensor untouched to solve issues. The two screws holding it in place should be either star headed or some non-standard screw if it's untouched *in theory*. Mine was messed with in the SiR and I had to put an XSi one on.

Check that the wires/loom isn't detached first though, it's a black unit that is attached to the throttle, closest to the firewall.

I agree w/ setanta. However mine is braken right now,has been for a year and a half, but works just fine.Otherwise your gonna have to replace it if it's throwing a code.

same here. Mines been messed for a while now. All it does is cause my idle to be weird sometimes.

Replace the whole throttle body (including an untampered TPS).

My issue was an idle that got higher and higher, until it was idling at 2500 hot - even more cold.

The ICV (Idle control valve) attached to the block causes an erratic idle, not the TPS, just in case someone fault diagnoses the issue wrong.

It's another case of replace with another unit.

Does this cause the TPS code to pop up? Mine just idles high sometime and sometimes doesnt.

I work at a honda service center and we just replace the TB. The TPs are a pain to mess with.

hmmmm well it doesnt idle funny, when the check engine light comes on it lags when u give it gas...... could it be because i have a 1.6 block with dx injection?

Depends on the ECU it's running I guess.

I used to get lag before VTEC before changing my throttle body. If it's not idling funny then it isn't the ICV.

Check your wiring before changing the TB - if they are shorting through oil impregnation or are stripped, disconnected or otherwise rooted, that could be the issue.
