I don't have the flange or gasket for the oil inlet. So I'm going to look for that, they guy that is helping me is going to have his dad make me a downpipe, and we're going in on hptuners....

if you wanna be helpful thank you.

granted cavy's arent the best cars in the world, they are far better than any car nissan makes with exception of the z

Actually you are incorrect in this statement. I had a '91 Sentra and it ran better and longer than any other I've ever been in. I have had more problems with my cavy and I had it for half the time I had my Sentra. Nissan is better than Chevy hands down.

Oil Inlet restrictor (http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-OIL-022&Category_Code=OIL)... if you don't already have one in that kit. Other wise too much oil is pumped through the turbo and will fuck it up. Other thing we found out, and our t3 super 60 needed to be rebuilt. An expensive fuck up. (BTW, if you don't already know there is a bolt right above your oil filter, thats your oil supply tap. 1/4 NPT. )

Oil return line. ( Your return, best location is the oil fil dipstick housing. Get someone to weld a nipple onto that sucker.

Boost gauge

Oil Pressue gauge is a good idea so is a fuel pressure ( not necessiarly needed )

Your going with HPtuners, good.

Vaccum lines

Turbo inlet exhaust gasket (http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GRT-GSK-005&Category_Code=GSK)

Exhaust flange for the turbo down pipe to be welded to.

I see you got the t-bolt clamps... good thing.

Hopefully that isn't a universal intercooler piping kit, right now i don't see that working.

Here are some routing pics for you...

We got rid of the windshield washer fluid resovoir. Now i have never delt with an internally mounted WG, ones without them are able to rotate the compressor side 360 degrees by loosening the bolts on the housings. If you wish to keep your resovoir, your going to need to mount yours facing down towards the ground and have it the charge pipes run along the bottom of the radiator towards the passenger side of the car, then out to the intercooler and back up how we ran ours.

You might also want to find out what PSI that actuator is on your Internal WG.

... thats all i can think of at this late hour. If i think of anything more, i'll chime back in or just keep updating this thing.

yeah, I'm just buying that cheap intercooler piping for now, and then we can see how much more I'll need. Plus it has a greddy blow off already on it, so I wanted it for that...

forgot to include I have boost gauge, oil pressure, and a/f. just looked at gaskets for the manifold and exhaust flange and oil inlet and outlet flanges. so I think i'll be getting those soon... i believe it's 7 or 8 psi for the wastegate..

and i'm looking at the oil inlet restrictor now...so thanks Cody, you're always really helpful.

If you're oil lines are -3an you dont need a restrictor. Also, if you havent bought oil lines yet, go to www.stealthmodeperformance.com and tell him that Schister66 sent you...i'm the featured car on that site so you might get a discount. They're usually $99 shipped, but you might get something special. I may have been a dick to you in the past and vice versa, but hey, check it out and you never know what you'll find.....Steves a good guy...he'll hook you up

yes there is -4an and -3an .... if you get the -4an you'll need a restrictor

Looks like you have everything covered now... Our lines were -4an. We didn't know about that little restrictor till it was too late and found oil in the charge pipes and it was just a nightmare from there... lol.

the charge pipes, is that the ones going into the intercooler or coming out of it?

Classicrocjunkie
03-13-2007, 06:45 PM
Yes thats the right Oil restrictor fitting...

As for the charge pipes.. Its depends on who your talking to and how technical they are. Normally the "charge pipe" is the one from the turbo to the intercooler and the return is obviously from the intercooler to the TB. I just reffer to them as " Charge Pipes" as the whole plumbing system from turbo - > intercooler - > Engine.

Derk_eliso
03-13-2007, 07:01 PM
you think I could just go to like auto zone and pick this up ? or should I order this one?

Schister66
03-13-2007, 09:08 PM
One criticism i have of the parts you've bought is that you purchased WAY too much from Ebay. I'm not one to trust Ebay, but if you are that's fine. It is just a preference.

Also, the "charge piping" is the piping from the turbo to the intercooler (aka hot side piping) and the intercooler to the throttle body (aka cold side piping)

Derk_eliso
03-13-2007, 09:14 PM
well in my location, to get a car part that's not offered at auto zone or advanced auto parts, then i have to drive to columbus which is like an hour and half drive... and pay twice as much for it. I can wait an extra day or two to have it sent to me... you can't fall for the online ebay stores that just resell japanese crap like JDM and stuff... you just have to know the difference between crap and not crap...

Precisely.....

Couple side questions/ Reccomendations...

What injectors are those? CC or lbs? high or low impediance?

Might want to think about picking up some high temp engine enamel with ceramic in it and shoot that mani so that light weight paint coating thats on there, dosn't flake off and end up looking to the stock rusted 2200 manifolds do. Thats just something cosmetic and a way to keep the temps down.

If thats an exact pic of your turbo, your missing the fitting for the vaccum line.

I need to go to auto store tomorrow, and to lowes, and talk to some exhaust people.... Oh yeah if you have a 2.2 and you want to get turbo you have to get a new oil dipstick holder thing... cuz it's right where your turbo sits... yeah I got a fancy blue tube for one, lol.

scratch the exhaust and just get a dump...0 back pressure = less turbo lag FTW

loud and illegal, but so is a 2.5in w/o cat

Derk_eliso
03-19-2007, 03:39 PM
we cut and welded a 45 degree elbow on the dipstick.

yeah 2.5 inch straight back :) loud and illegal, just how I like it :)

CavLCD128
03-19-2007, 05:24 PM
no, what im sayin is why not get a dumb exhaust, instead of payin 700+ bucks for some exhaust that provides less performance...

if your gonna run an illegal exhaust setup, u should just run a dumb exhaust because it provides the most performance for the money...and a dump pipe is only 250-300 at the most

Derk_eliso
03-19-2007, 05:59 PM
dumb or dump? because you're saying dumb and i'm laughing because dumb is dum.... dump? like as in a cut out? yeah... no... and when you have friends then you only pay like 100-150 for it anyway.

Derk_eliso
03-19-2007, 08:39 PM
while we're on the topic of downpipes, my guy that's doing my exhuast for me says I need some kind of adapter because he doesn't have anything he can connect the downpipe to... I was looking around on the internet and I've gotten so many terms thrown in my face... do you think he might have been talking about a V-clamp...?

Derk_eliso
03-19-2007, 09:08 PM
yeah he was, I'm an idiot, my turbo came with a v-band downpipe adaptor, I need a v-band flange then it clamps together with the adaptor... geez idiot attack, lol.

on hold for right now, waiting on my intercooler and generic piping, and I have a gasket for the turbo connecting to the manifold that should be here today... pipes and cooler sometime later this week maybe Thursday or Friday.. So I was unscrewing the rusted cat bolts, so much fun... and I broke a bolt, so I just pulled it out... then the head got stuck in the socket... so I took a pair of.. um.. vice grips?... and like locked it down on the end of the screw...but apparently got some of my skin stuck in it too, lol.

Is this finished yet?

What do you expect this car to run in the 1/4 when finished?

I don't know how the auto 2.2's fare when turboed, but it would be interesting to see what kind of numbers would be put out. Tranny upgrades might have to be in order, it will take quite an abuse depending on how you set this up...

Maybe it's just me, but if i were to mod a Cavalier, i would have bought a 2.4 with a manual tranny and went with that setup. The potential of the 2.4 is quite large...My sister drives a 2.2 auto, very high mileage but it's a good car. It's only a 3 spd, and it's very gutless, but it gets her around and she loves it.

I'd be very interested to see what this puts out stock, and what it puts out after you finish. What is your final goal?

no not finished yet... I guess everyone deserves an update huh?

hold on lemme answer other questions first, lol...

hopefully 13's in the 1/4.

I've seen a 462hp 2.2 on j-body.org... it just depends on how much time/money you invest into it.... if I want to get any more than 200 hp out of it I will need to upgrade the bottom end, and if I were going to go all out to those lengths, I would probably just swap a 2.4 into it and then get another manifold for the turbo...and built that up...

as for my final goal... who knows. Right now I was just getting tired of having a turbo and everything for it sitting in my garage, and me not doing anything about it....

here is where I stand right now...

First things first, pull out the parts in my way...Alternator, the header, downpipe, and exhaust (back to where the cat should be.)...

I upgraded to Ford Brown Top (36lb) injectors (up from 16lb)...

I replaced the valve cover gasket

Ran the oil feed line.... I had to remove my idiot light sensor and T off of that for my oil pressure gauge, and for my oil feed for my turbo...

Relocated (welded) my dipstick, and drilled into it ready to weld in my oil drain...

Had to get a longer hose for the coolant line, I had to drop it acouple inches so the turbo could fit it...

Had to turn the intake housing on my turbo because it wouldn't fit, and I think I have to turn the other side because the oil return is horizonital and it needs to be vertical... But none the less, it's mounted right now...

heres some eye candy...

Tomorrow (Monday) I will be putting on my intercooler and hopefully figuring out a route for the pipe. Start the piping.

Tuesday - finish the piping

Wednesday - tie up any loose ends (literally). Probably do some cosmetic stuff (install my subs, and rear deck speakers... work on fabing my trunk...

Thursday - Drop car off at exhaust shop

Friday - pick car up and go tuning!!!!

So you're not worried about the tranny? Or are you just going to drive it until it breaks and worry about it then? That's usually my philosophy.

I'm building an L67 for my Grand Prix GTP, but i bought the motor and i'm building it in the garage and dropping it in late spring early summer. It's getting cammed, the heads, LIM, supercharger and throttle body are getting ported, higher pressure valve springs, double roller timing chain and sprockets, 42.5lb injectors, 3.29 gears in the tranny, headers, custom PCM tune....etc. My car is running high 13's right now, when the new engine goes in i'm running for a high 12 non intercooled.

Kind of similar to what you're doing. I seriously recomend camming. Yeah it's a pain to do, but you'll gain a lot of bottom end, and the turbo will give a decent top end.

Once mine is done i'm having a couple buddies help drop it in, Chevboy actually is allowing me the use of his garage  . Great guy. I have pics over in the Grand Prix forum, it's titled L67 Build i believe.

Anyway, good luck with your build, it will be nice to watch the progress of both yours and mine.

So your still around here dream-crushing? =D Hah jk, but yeah, 200whp will pull 14's on a cavy, however maybe around 235-250 could pull the 13's. A nice goal tho, like to see how this turns out. =D

13's at the local track and you have to start wearing a helmet, lol. I would be happy with low 14's, lol. If I can't get my IC piping in i won't have a turbo setup, lol

edit:
2.2L LN2 OHV
115 HP

a car with the same specs added a t3/t4 turbo (like mine) and ran 8psi with stock compents, only upgrading injectors to 240cc
this setup (it's a turbo setup for the car) advertise's 75-90 WHP gain.

My injectors are 36lbs are like....370cc or something...and 8 is what I planned on running, maybe 9.... we'll see how she does, friday is the tune day :)

How much clearance it between the turbine housing and your radiator? Ours wasn't nearly as close as that, and we had an issue it melting some electrical wires. Make sure there is nothing running near that housing, or you may run into some issues with melting wires.

Derk_eliso
03-27-2007, 09:50 AM
closest electrical wires are the group of wires there including the fuel rail, iat, fuse boxes etc... and I was planning on rerouting that too... underneath of the hoses and dipstick there...was your guys' intercooler like really low to the ground like mine? Mine is probably even with the bottom of my drift bumper...

o ouch...ladies ladies...below the belt :nono:

if you wanna call this car "tuned" then it was porly tuned, i could bump it up to 17 PSI and still be on my A/F ratio because it runs so rich from the factory...and i think il brag just because my car is under warrenty! SUCKAS!! Chevy avoids cavaliers like the ugly girl you dated in 8th grade...

lol...i would love to start out from scratch but this just seemed so much easier...i mean, who could mess up STAGED upgrades! LOL...

and i think derk should get alot of credit for doin this setup on a 2.2L...but man am i gonna laugh when his engine blows up lol

sorry

i wouldnt....put it right before the manifold, on the cold side pipe going from the IC to the Manifold...easy to fix if you need to replace a seal or whatever its easy to get to...also if u get an adjustable type BOV you can adjust to find the perfect sound (Greddy RFL) you can adjust it without havin 2 work hard 2 get 2 it

is it bad if it's on the "not cold side" because There is like no more room to put it anywhere but there....

its actually better for the turbo if you put it on the hot side....but it really doesn't matter at your power level....

what kind of blow off valve you using?....... what ever you get get a RFL it makes it ten times lowder and the cool effect is fuckin awsome.
