when i rev the engine and it comes back down when it gets to about 1500 and then again at about 1000 it makes a wierd vibration/rattle but only at these speeds coming back down in rev. also sometimes when I rev it hard it will spray black liquid out the exhaust, not oil though is it just the condensation coming out with the cabon in the exhaust? pretty funny though my buddies white 98 camaro z28 always seems to be behind when it happens:lol: is it just that my car knows a piece of sh@t when it sees one?

Could be condensation and carbon..id still look at it, maybe do a compression test as well. And as for the vibration, you may have a broken or very worn out engine mount, check all 4, especially the rear. if you cant find any evidence of damage, mayeb the next place to look is the clutch assembly.

Check the heat shield on your catalytic converter...
When they come unwelded, they tend to rattle about every 500rpm starting at 1000rpm... usually can't hear it above 1500-2000rpm until it gets worse because of the engine and exhaust noise...
As for the black crap coming out... probably carbon and condensation build up.... nothing too uncommon.

Ah well... hard to tell what a sound is via text.

you might have the same problem I do ...
except mine only makes the sound when I'm accelerating
and I've removed all of my heat shields from the exhaust manifold down

Black smoke could be running rich. The rear mount could very well be the culprit to your vibration problem. Even though you think it's tight it may be messed. I forget which member had this problem and finally sure enough that was what the problem was - rear mount. He had a light blue civic hatch and was from VA I think.
Anyway, I'd take that Z28 in a heartbeat!
