ok here is my problem. i can't decide if i want this
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SPR-17S
or
http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/mmc6500/
now the amp will probelly be running 100 rms per channel
the main reason for my probelly is that i don't know anyone who has the new type r speakers to hear them.
but i am open to suggestions for any comonoponts (sp) that are under 200

my personal preference is alpine. i have owned alpine equipment for a number of years and they kick. the polks are great speakers too. never owned them but have friends that swear by them. just my two cents. go to best buy to hear the alpines and circuit city to hear the polks. good luck with your decision.

Polk. The last time i heard the type-r comps they sounded good, but i like the sound of the Polks. It sucks you cant use the Best Buy store setups since they have the Units tuned for pretty much only bass and they usually sound like ass.
I though paulD was going to install a set of Polks. If i didnt get the RE's i was going to get either rainbows, CDT, or polks.
But the best thing to do is to find a store that has a sample setup and bring a cd and play around to see what sounds better.

personall opinion, the type r's are the best bet for great sound reproduction. I ]ve ran several set so far and have been in love since...

Most of car audio is personal opinion. No 2 people will hear something the same.
Thats why its always better to go listen to something in person, that way you know what it sounds like.

LIke i said take a cd to listen to, you might find that you like the sounds of a set of infinity, speakers over the alpines or polks. If you have a tweeter close by go see what they have, id also check circuit city i think they have the polk speakers i know there mainly kicker but they do sell some polk stuff.

Well i guess listen to what you can and base your decision off of that. Do some research online to see what they rate as consumer reviews are great for this. And check the audiophile forums especially, they are sometimes very hard to get a thats great or even thats good response from.
