they aren't that bad. My friend just got a 2002 ZX3 also. He used to have an 89 teg, but it crapped out on him. First thing i woudl recommend would be to lower it, i feel like im in a minivan when im in his car, its soooo high.

Eh.... zetec = wanna be/think you can be!
A friend of mine has had a zx3 for about a year now... he can't stand it. he wishes he'd stayed with his 99 Civic.
Hell, my 98 Civic EX WILL out run a zx3 EASY (do it all the time to my friend)... and my 91 will run circles around 'em just as easily once I get a D16Y8 in it... and I would pit the D15B that's in it now as an even match against ford's 2.0 "zetec" engine.
Just my opinion though :flipa: :bloated:

i tried to take my friend my d15 vs his ZX3. He whooped me :) focus's have a good amount of torque so he just beat the heck outta me off the line. once i do a swap i'll be able to take him ;)
My friend with the ZX3 read that a focus zx3 is quoted 130 something HP but when they tested it it only got around 100WHP. Sucks for them at least they still got torque :flash:

KEEP your civic, go to college. Honda has a special financing plan if you decide to buy a new car out of college. they give you a pretty good interest rate as long as you don't have a thing on your credit, or in dealers terms a GHOST! that way when your school is out of the way you can have a tight Si or a RSX TypeS, or if your making lots of money a CL TypeS 6-speed:jump:

I say do whatever you want. Personally, I am not a fan of the focus, so I wouldn't buy one. I'd much rather have a protege 5 wagon :licker: (or keep my 90 Si, and spend my money on parts). It's REALLY REALLY nice to not have any car payments.

No. I'm too broke for a swap at this time. He'll have the car for a while, so i'll take him someday. Plus I won't go B16, since its not one of the easily legal smoggable enigines in Cali. I'm pretty sure i couldnt get a BAR sticker with a 1gen b16 swap in my car sine its a JDM-Only engine.

dotn listen to these ass's. you do whatever you wanna do and be happy. if you want the focus and you think its nice, then thats all that matters. you should fix it up alittle then come back here and call these 4th genners out and spank them. then they will shut up

The only exception to the focuz is the SVT.... And that is still not a great car. Its amazing how a domestic car company finally followed hondas lead with valve timing...... The no longer have to have a 3.8 + liter engine to produce a decent amount of power.. All in all focuzes suck balls (the svt is only good b/c of the sc) they are ugly outside and in... But they do get decent gas mileage...... So if thats what you want go for it. An import is all around more rewarding if you plan to keep it for awhile. Most fords (trucks are an exception) have serious problems after 90,000 miles.... The new civic si looks better, is price range comparable, gets better gas mileage, is faster, can easily be worked on, and will last past 150,000 with no problems. The price on the new si has gone down because it wasn't selling to much. The new type R si looks awesome tho... Well good luck.. Sorry even1 is pissing on your decision.

want me to come down and take care of the lightweight? :hehe:
i'm a big believer in drive what makes you happy...after all you have to drive and pay for it!
my personal opinion? i stay with older honda because it is proven (12+ yrs worth) to be quality from bumper to bumper. show me a 90 Escort on the o.g. engine with 300,000 miles that is still running strong and i'll give ford a little respect. i love it when mustang owners step to me. i tell them to go crack a head. they were made from styrafoam molds and tend to crack as early as 25,000 miles!
again, do what YOU want to do. i was just simply stating my opinion since you asked :)

I agree with ci5ic. I would much rather have a protege 5 wagon, than a ford focus. But the decision is up to you, and not any of us.
Personally I don't like the new Civic Hatches. They are too big. You have to do quite a bit of mods before it looks right.

Just so you know-
the ford focus had a record number of recalls its first year of production. My roommate was issued one as a company car and he ended up driving it maybe 2 months out of the 6 months he had it. the other time it was in the shop for repairs. and yes they are slower than shit and yes they sit high as shit and yes they are UGLY! get a DX CIVIC AT LEAST!!! you could make a decent show car out of that.

protoge 5 (already agreed on). other favorites are the Mini Cooper S or S2000...but they are on the spendier side. if you must get a newer civic...i say 99 Si.
honestly, if you want the cheap way out...just get yourself a y8. mine came out a '00 EX with 12,000...found it for $500. i think of it as i bought myself a '00 EX with better bodylines :D

for those who want to break down everything i say to the literal meaning then here it goes....
if i had 30 million dollars and nothing better to do, i would buy a protoge 5, 99 Si, or a mini cooper s before i would buy anything with a ford badge.
there...is that better for everyone? ;)

ZX3... my cousin has one, big piece if you ask me... It along with my friend's IROC is the only things my car could beat, he's got a 02 ZX3 with some mods and my stock A6 with bad rings still outran him before I hit 3rd gear. He used to race his old Nissan so at least I know he can drive so it's got to be the car.

I would never get a Ford...Considering how an equivalent (and more refined) Civic costs about a $1,000 more, and will last twice as long, its a better investment IMO.

Ford Focus. Personally I do not recomended it because there are many reproted problems with the car but if you happen to get it I hope you get the free computer and ipod. That will probably the best thing you will get out of the car. If your paying for it on your own get a used eg or ek.
