Metro NOOB

Greetings all,
brand new to these forums, but did a lot of reading lately. I wish to appeal to the vast knowledge base that the users here seem to have.
I just got a 1995 Geo Metro 1.0L 3 banger. The yard that is selling it says it starts, but needs a new clutch. The body is pretty decent, though the hood has been replaced with one that is of much lower quality than the rest of the car. The stock wheels have been replaced with extra-wide five spoke chrome hubs and some (looks near-new) wide lo-pro tires. I have very little experience with transmissions, but I have replaced a clutch or two in my day.
This clutch acts funny. The clutch pedal operates very easily (too easily?). The gear shifter moves into gear equally easily with the clutch depressed or not depressed. The gear shifter also moves out of gear easily.
From what I have read in these forums, I am guessing the previous owner over-adjusted the nut on the friction plate adjustment arm (at the top of the tranny), so in effect, the car is constantly having the clutch engaged.
I am asking for input as to what to expect from this car with 92K miles, what I can do to keep it up, and any ideas about the transmission. I have even seen people refer to other cars for part-swapping purposes. For this car, what other vehicles could I turn to far parts, and which parts. It also would be great to see others people's success and failure stories. These would be helpful to steer Newbies like me away from pitfalls and toward success.
Thanks in advance everyone.
