doughnuts!

So... Ross Ade stadium was completely deserted except for 2 parked cars and one other person doing doughnuts for the hell of it. I decided to do doughnuts because so much empty space should not go unused! Anyway, I was in the middle of the most awesome and fast doughnut ever, and my engine died. One of my guesses was that the oil or gas all got forced to the side or whatever and my engine stopped, either as an emergency procedure or whatever. Is this possible or has this happened to anyone else? It started right back up when I put the car in park and turned the key, so no permanent damage done. Just seeking an explanation to quench my curiosity :p

upset, cause Im hungry and dough nuts sound good right about now

Uhmm, I havent a clue why your engine would die like that...

My engine dies if someone touches the keys or messes with em but dunno lol

That probly normal when running the DS out of it :grinyes:

Both of mine will die sometimes when you have been WOT for an exteded period of time.
Then as soon as you let off the throttle it dies :(

Probly due to the sudden vacum change :dunno:
I was doing some rev donuts yesterday too in a kroger parking lot
A police officer was so kind to stoped by and told me I should go do that somewhere else
At least I didnt get a ticket.

I even tried to blow the motor in the GT for like an hour with WOT, that pesky rev limiter

well if it was anything like my cousins car, it probly stalled out because it thought you got in a wreck. on my cousins car she hit black ice and the car spun around for about 20 seconds and when it finally stopped the engine was off and the interior lights were on and the doors unlocked. luckily she didnt do any damage or hit anything. but yeah i think its a security feature or something.

last time I did dougnut in a car was 1978, the local constabulary put a stop to it as well. Do the GAs have an oil pressure sensor that will kill the ignition/fuel if the oil pressure drops below a certain threshold?

That might be it...

I forgot thier is an oil pressure sending unit by the oil filter :uhoh:
Though it has to be pretty darn low to kill the motor, not just from spinning around.
More like mjtr21 was saying the fuel shuts down when you are in an accident.

BTW heres one video aproved :D
Short due to the Pavement being partially dry in spots

Not bad for stock, just the CAI.

You wont see any SE snow videos :grinno:
I try not drive it in the snow, mainly because of a**holes that cant drive.

And it just wants to spin spin spin

You dont see many donut vids from this vantage point either.

Gir, you seen the RWD GA on youtube doing the burnout in the parking lot?

RWD GA?! When did this happen?! How is that even possible lol...

Sweet vid btw :p It must suck even TRYING to get the SE to move on snow lol

 Do a search on youtube for "V8" grand am videos.
The GA is black with hood scoops.
I always thought it would be a much funner car as RWD.
Probly not real hard to work out if you have some spare parts and time. THough I doubt it is street legal.

The SE moves, I just have to keep my foot out of it and keep the ETC "ON".

Pink! ?

I didnt see a pink one :grinno:
The one I saw was black w/ silver stripes on the side.

But ya Vipey anythings possible if you have the money.
I sent that guy a message to see if he can tell me what rear suspension they used and how much of the floors needed to be moved to get the V8 in there.

I'd love to have an AWD GA.
That would rock-&-roll, all night long

My god... I'd drop the GTO engine in there or something, make it AWD... boost of course... holy hell you'd be so fast... imprezas and lancers would be like ?!?!?!?!?! where he go?!?!?!?!?!

Vipey1337
02-20-2007, 10:21 PM
Oh im going to talk to a guy in town... see if he'd even have any fathomable idea on how to make a grand am AWD, and what he'd charge... granted I wouldn't get it done, but I'd just like to know what he thinks :) If anyone around here can do it, this guy can.

It wouldnt be to hard actually.
Something like a subaru AWD drivertrain or just buy a transfer case thats high geared(not for 4x4 trucks), four wheel independant suspension.

If you did not have the parts on hand, youre talking about $10-15K & 100's of hours. Then you have to have it inspected by the NHTSA before it could be driven on the street. SO thiers another $5-8K on things they'd make you change, if you even could get it approved for street use.

BTW That GA RWD, is not street legal :grinno:

Its not the first I've seen, and they are usually for show only :(

For all the time and money, I'd just buy a GTO and modify the hell out of it!

Gir-_-
02-21-2007, 10:24 PM
that GA shouldnt even be allowed on the street :) lol

xeroinfinity
02-21-2007, 10:52 PM
Its not that bad.

This would be the AWD that needs to be under the GA :grinyes:

So here is my new dilemma... downpayment on a new awd car or make this one a baby xero... and obviously without the ridiculous $$$ of AWD goodness :p

Hum, thier are not many american AWD cars I'd own.
I know several new(07') cars from GM, Chrysler, and Mercury are available as an option for AWD with "stubility control" :gay:

But you are talking $50,000 + :eek7:
If I lived somewhere that it snowed more then half the year the I could see paying that kind of money.

Shit for probly $60K you could buy a Skyline GTR(late 90's modle) and have it made street legal. Which they are awd and 250+hp :ylsuper:

I was thinking more along the lines of either buying an impreza wrx (I MIGHT settle for the standard model but I'd love a turbo hehe), or maybe a 1g talon/eclipse/laser. Problem with the latter is that, being old cars, they normally have a lot of miles on them, you can't get loans for them (not that I'd totally need one anyway), and the engines are old, even though the 1g DSM engines are very reliable and can handle tremendous boost, and AMERICAN MADE WOOT! I guess you can just have it all rebuilt and be fine :p

The impreza would be nicer due to reliability and being much faster stock (I'd probably aim for an 00-02 model, even though I HATE their headlights... i'd change them out somehow). ANything else is just too expensive (i.e. the Lancer...)

Or, a 3000GT VR4... my dream car :p Too bad they are old, incredibly hard to mod, expensive, and not as reliable as the other two :(
