Hard starting an '89 Cabriolet

Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone could help me. My friends cabriolet either starts hard when its cold, or like today, won't start at all. Plugs? distributer? any common things that perhaps may be the problem? I'm gonna try to get it fired up tommorow with starting fluid to find out if it's fuel or spark. What do those have; throttle body? Is there a way to clean/rebuild them. Please A.I.M. me if you can help.
