Hi all
I just bought a clean Blazer .....,, coolant loss motor knock.... so i am looking for a used motor, the only thing is that year used motor has high miles at the junkyards. Could i use a 99 model 4.3 engine, and will the intake manifolds interchange along with other parts from the motor thats in the vehicle now.
1993 Blazer 4.3 vortex engine.

Pulled the motor, knock was piston meltdown on two cylinders, .005 warpage in the block deck, plus warpage in the heads. Cylinders honed up ok, but i will have to take it to the machine shop for a complete check over. Undecided what to do,,,,,rather rebuild this one than put in a used one

If you build this one, you'll know what you have. Don't forget the heads, a nice 3 angle valve job and they'll flow pretty good. Ask about a milage cam...might as well get some fuel milage & low end torque out of this project.
A transmission fluid & filter change...dumping the old fluid out of the torque converter since it's easy at this point.
You could end up with a very solid piece at 1/10 the price of new.
I'm looking forward to mine when it's time.
