cam isnt actually a comp cam its a TSP 228R. Comp hardened pushrods, manley dual springs with titanium retainers. The motor(i didnt feel like taking the bag off) is a 2003 LQ4 motor and i had the heads milled a little to give a 10.5-1 compression. Then i have arp head bolts and i think im going to pick up some katech rod bolts. Also i got a tsp ported ls6 oil pump for it. I dunno if i should change the lifters or not with only 55000 miles on them, maybe luos can guide me on that. The cam has XER lobes which i understand to be kinda harsh on the lifters. Everything else in the pictures is stuff i have to complete the motor. I need gaskets, seals.....and to decide if i need lifters or not. other than that i have everything so the last ingredient is time. Oh and a 100 shot :)...i say that now but ill probably itch for a 150 since these motors will eat it all day. more than likely ill just stick with a 4l60e transmission but stick is sounding pretty good. Also have a jumbo size radiator to wedge in my car sitting in the corner of my garage.

I'm jealous. But I plan on taking on something like that once I graduate college. I'm going to buy myself a 2010 Camaro Z28 (as a graduation present to myself) and pull the engine out of the 94 and try and rebuild it myself. But I don't know shit about what I would be doing.
So, are you going to try and drop that into the 92 or do you have a different shell in mind?

nice! I like how a lot of us on here have serious projects in the works.
what suspension/drivetrain mods do you have or planning on?
and any new pics?

drivetrain is going to be the stock 10 bolt for as long as it holds on and then ill just keep putting replacements in. I dont think ill need anything more because its just a street car. I was considering trying my current 700r4 behind the new motor but i just dont think it will take the power. ill pick up a 4l60e with a stall soon. I want a 6 speed but that will cost another 1500 dollars at least to change to manual.
so currently its a 6.0 liter with aluminum heads milled .015, tsp ls6 port oil pump, tsp hardened pushrods, manley dual springs,, ls2 timing chain, and i still dont have a cam....!!!, and some hawks swap long tubes. So now i just need gaskets, a cam, a tuned pcm, and f-body belt accessories. And whatever little odds and end I might need. Then I get to put it all together. Its just going to be a few more paychecks. Cant wait!!
so uh.....anybody want a L98 tpi motor? the thing has a lot of power and i dont beat on it so its well taken care of. Just wanted to throw that in there....lol

oh and the suspension will get some harder shocks and poly bushings all around. I dont know if i want to lower it or not and it has some big sway bars on it already. id have to get at least some 17 inch wheels to make it look right. just more $$$...

Don't try to pawn your useless junk on us! J/K dude. How do you not have a cam picked out yet? That's like, the most important part. Just get the biggest cam you can, who cares if its a street car, it will be more fun that way.

nice, i'm in the process of building a small block for my 91 formula. mines a 355 with vortec heads. i have a question though, can i use the old pushrods from my 91 tpi 350 motor or will i need newer ones. i'm guessing they would be the same length, but i'm just curious as to the life span of pushrods.

I hope that 4l60e doesnt cost you hardly anything, because there's hardly a difference between it and the 700R4. the only benefit you're getting there is computer control. There's little power handling benefit. You will still need to toughen it up for that engine.
I'd beef up the 700R4 (like I did mine) with servos, boost valve, reaction shell, and kevlar band.

start a new thread if you have a different topic to talk about. buy new pushrods. doesnt matter if they are the same length. they dont cost that much. they develop wear patterns that can cause valvetrain failure when reused in a different engine.

well id be buying the 4l60e one for the electronic tunability as well as it will be a newer fresher trans. Mine has 100 k on and though it works it slips a little and i have my suspicians about a quarky converter. I guess i could rebuild the 700r4 but then i have to figure out how to hook up stuff like overdrive lockup and tv cable. i should be able to find a 4l60e with about 50 k on it for around 600 dollars
