Hello,
I have a 2003 Wrangler and trying to replace the shift knob. I pulled teh center piece off and pulled the rubber outer piece off. Now I have the hard plastic piece on the rod that will not slip, turn, pull off. I have used plyers and other grips trying to get this last piece off with zero luck. Can anyone help me and explain what I need to do. Thank you kindly for your help.
grüße, Jim

Check out:

They've got a good bit of info there about it, and it seems like there's a hidden locknut.
Oh yeah, and Welcome to AF! Lots of good info and folks here.

If your replacing your shift knob with one like shown here (www.rocknob.com/help.html), then I suggest using the longer bolts with some medium strength thread locker (the blue one).
I tightened my bolts 5 times :banghead: before the thread locker, and not once since :grinyes:
