My 1997 Trans' wipers sit in the UPRIGHT postion when in wiper delay (between sweeps) is this normal?
I thought they would drop between sweeps? They park fine, but I notice when I shut them off, they do this "second rise" then drop. Also, they don't seem to operate to the edge of the windsheild, they are about 10 inches away (Vertically), but still park fine...makes me think the linkage/s have been reversed?
As a foot note, the windshield was replaced just before I bought the van, I think the glass installer mixed up some of the crank-rods. Anyone have a specific diagram of this linkage?? Thanks!

It's possible the screw holding "gear mechanism" to the motor has loosened and is misaligned. To reset it, run the wipers on the delay setting once. When the wipers are at the paused position, shut off the ignition. Loosen the screw in the center drive post. Lift off and rotate the assembly so that the V in the catch is ~1/8" from the corner where it will catch on. Tighten everything back down and run the wipers to see if they park.

It could also be that the mechanism has become dry and needs a little grease. Or, the 3rd possibility is that when they replaced the window, they removed the arms, but when they put them back on, didn't tighten the arms all the way. This would allow the arms to slip on the post causing them to become misaligned over time. But if the latter was the case, you probably would be hearing them hit the bumpers, each other, etc.
