The time has come...

Not only has the time come...it is one of the biggest moments probably in anyone's life...not just mine...and that's their first car.
Last week, we agred on a deal for a 1994 W124 E320 Coupe black/black, no more than 2 owners, 75,100k miles for $9700. The car was first from FL, then spent the rest of its life in NY where it was owned by a responsible owner as the Maintenance record book from Merc was filled to the brim up to 75k, and had a consistent and clean CarFax history, with a required NY inspection annually.
This car was clean, inside and out mechanically. There were some small things like the paint on the sunroof was cracked, the front license plate mount was broken, tailight was out, a little cracked wood...but other than that, everything was fantastic.
We had it inspected by our Merc mechanic, which was located about 50 miles from where teh car was located. The dealer, already had shwon they had nothing to hide because they drove the car up themselves just to get it inspected.
The car just needs its brakes replaced, the sunroof and little nicks and nacks fixed, and its 75k mile maintenance check-up and they pretty much offered to fix everything, provide the paperwork of what was done and give the car for $9700. We just have to get the 75k mile check-up.
I'm happy and excited, and will be payin gmy mom back over the years. She's going to share the car, its mostly hers since she managed to wrack up 36100 miles on her Infiniti on a 12k mile/year lease and we've had the car for only a little over a year and a half. Her job calls for lots of driving while driving me to school.
It wasn't exactly what I wanted, which was a W126 420 or 560...but it's good enough.
I promise pics later! She just put a deposit down and the car is currently getting worked on. So we'll get the car by next week!

Congratulations on your first car. You should be excited. Be grateful and avoid statements like the one above when talking to your mom about it... haha

good job, i'm on my first car right now, it's just a honda accord but i love it. you'll find that no matter what car you have, you'll probably love it simply because it's your first big thing that you own. at least in my case it is, it's the most valuable thing i own but it's under my name so it's actually mine.

Off topic, but why did your mom do a 12K mile lease when she knows she's drive a lot for work?

Her previous car was leased at $475 a month for 36 months, 20k a year I think, and she didn't want to go over $500 a month when she got the FX. She was unemployed the time she got the FX so she didn't know she was going to be driving so much and it was also a left over that suited her criterion best (she always loved and wanted the FX so she made it come true). Her current lease is in the ballpark of $495 a month, 12k a year, 36 months.

Being that leasing is usually (note: not always) a poor financial move anyways, the above bolded text begs the question why she went out and leased a car in the first place?:screwy:
I was going to post something else here, but I forget what.

:wtf: Jimster lol....and no, I'm keeping it bone stock. I hate "boy ricers" and "pimpers" for the reason that they absolutely destroy cars. I also hate "dub" style cars. THey just make my gag reflex go wild.
the only things that I might do is change the headlights to more powerful ones (still debating on a quality OEM HID conversion but with original housings, may just switch over to more powerful Hella halogens and OEM E500 Euro lenses), get an OEM wood trimmed steering wheel, and OEM AMG Monoblocks 18 inch, and that's it really.
