95 jetta runs rich on first start up

this little car is a good go getter, but i have had more small problems with this thing. ok when you first start the car (only when the engine is cold) as long as you dont touch the gas it's fine but if you do it starts to flood. now flood is an odd word to use with a fuel injection but that is what it is doing.. i strongly believe it is the temp sender. so if anyone has ony ideas or know the problem.. please enlighten me!!!
