So, ever since, well, mid October, driving anywhere as just been shit. Bad weather, tons of snow, just to cold, ya know, generally suckage. I haven't had a race since I ran my buddy with the IS250, so I've been waiting for a halfway decent run.
Anyways, I was comming home from the airport (I went back to Texas for the weekend), and had just finished getting another lovely BS ticket. How BS? Ticket was for 10 over, I was moving with the flow of traffic, and I had my car searched. And I still got the ticket. After standing on the side of the road with my fingers interlocked and it was about 30 god damned degrees out on the side of the highway.
I had just pulled away from my stop, and the cop swung around an over pass and when the other day, and I was now a good forty minuted behind schedule and trying to get back to class. I drop into steptronic, kick it down to third, and mash the gas trying to make up lost time. However, I didn't want to risk another major ticket, so I set the cruise at 85. My acceleration caught the attention of one a 3.0 A4 Audi, a 2004 I believe. I've always wanted to run one of the 3.0s, as they are supposed to be slower than the 1.8s, and I can beat a 1.8 healthily enough.
He comes speeding up on me, does a bit of a fly by to let me know he's there, and then drops off. I drop down to below seventy so I could be soemwhere remotely near my power band, and he drops to pace me, so I know he wants to go. Awesome.
We pace each other at about 65 for a few seconds, and he finally punches it, and I do it right as he does. He had a slight lead that I make up fairly quickly, and hold him at doors up to about 75. Sometime around 80, I start pulling on him, not fast, but smooth and clean. The highway is wide open, so I decide to let the race run out, and I'm assuming he agreed as he stayed on it as well.
I let fourth really wind out, and shut down at about 130ish, 135ish, with the Audi about three cars back, give or take. I let off, let gravity slow me down, and the Audi blows by, but gets on his breaks right away. We slow back down, and he's pacing me, so I guess he wanted to go again. As soon as I hit eighty I punch it, as does he, and again, a slow, clean pull. Let off about a car and a half up at 110, and I get a thumbs up from the driver. I let off, and he speeds away. I was tempted to chase, but decided I kinda want to save a little gas.

You are at least 16 as you have a driver's liscense (I know I can't spell that word). If you are 16, and too lazy to read this...end yourself.

lol jk, sucks about the ticket though. But pretty much everycop will pull you over for 10 over. You just happened to be the unlucky one he pulled over. Why he felt the need to seach a BMW for drugs on a college kid is beyond me. Id put in a complaint against him at his deparment, just to be a dick back to him.
Nice kill btw, i have yet to race an Audi. . .any Audi. . .wow. . .hmm

I think thats exactly why he searched. College kid, nice car, out of state plates...I don't do drugs, and no one I know who does goes to St. Louis at nin in the morning to meet their weed man, but still, I think he almost expected to find a dime bag or something in my car.

Sounds like a good clean run man. You serious though that the 3.0 is slower then the 1.8t?
I love those types of battles between rival manufacturers. Mitsu Vs. Subie, Ford Vs. Chevy, BMW vs. Audi.
good kill.
...er kills!

I didn't think the 3.0 A4s were slower then the 1.8t's. Maybe with a chip the 1.8t could beat a 3.0, but stock v. stock I would go with the more expensive, more powerful engine. I have heard arguements that the weight difference plays into these races.
I'm a little suprised the 325i beat the A4 3.0. The 325i was always supposed to match up with the 1.8t while the 330i was competition for the 3.0/3.2.

I used to think the same thing, that the A4 3.0 is faster, but a while ago I looked it up. Average time for a 3.0 is a 15.6, most 1.8s are 15.3-15.4.

nice runs. its kinda hard to get races where i am as everything is covered in salt and snow. its partly melting away, but then snows again the next week. so much for washing the car.
my first street race ever was against a audi. was an early 90s quattro or something. awd launch handed me my ass.

its kinda fun to loose sometimes, just depends on what you're losing to i guess.
nice runs btw cassies i have yet to run any audis around here, most of the guys who drive them go to UOP(local college) and are freakin loaded so most of what i've seen are decently modded. random question but what is done to your 325I? and its an E46 if im correct?
o and stig, why didnt you let me or ernie know you were comin up here last month(i think thats when you came up) we shoulda had a little meet. next time though.

Next time my Grandpa decides to have a heart attack I'll be sure to have him let me know in advance so I can plan a car meet... I can joke about it now, He's okay, but yeah, that's the only reason why I was up there.
I didn't know I was coming up was a last minute thing, infact I got the call from my Mother that I was needed up North and that afternoon I was there...
I only contacted Ernie when I knew I could possibily sneak away from my grandma's house cause my grandpa was out of ICU and was awake and talking (aka recovering).
Next time I make it up there, I'll be sure to give you guys a heads up.

Yup, E46. Just a CAI is all, I've been toying around with the idea of an exhaust or the Dinan ECU on and off, but I'm sorta just saying screw it now. I'm pretty much just saving my extra cash so I can put what I can towards a down payment with a trade in for a 335i Coupe or possibly an 02 E46 M, not sure yet. I might use my tax refunds for an exhaust, depends on how much I get back.
