Not a good Valentines..

Got off of work at around 12.30, got home round 1am. I get a call from one of my best buds. Says he wants to come over and chill, drink a beer. I meet him outside, and sit inside his truck (2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 Off-Road I/E) for a while. He tells me what he did for this girl, (roses, chocolates, etc) that he's liked for over a year. He askes me if shes seeing anyone (since shes my friend too, and co-worker) I was like yeah, shes talkin to this other guy we work with. He got a little pissed, and asked what he should do. I told him to wing it. Call her right now, telling her how you feel. He's half drunk, so it should take the edge off.... next thing I know, were rollin down the road, jus driving around. I say "you realize you just kidnapped me?" He laughs, and says "yeah" We both chuckle. Anyways, on the phone, he pours his poor heart out to her, only to be turned down. I was like "you got your answer now, wanna take me back home?" "yah, okay" he said a little bit depressed. He pulls up my drive, I get out, slam the door. Stop. Open the door again, and say "Dude, dont wreck when you leave"...

I wake up in the morning, go to 1st block class at school. I start to nod off, when my phone vibrates. wtf! Text says "Your heard about (insert name)?" Text back: "Naw, what happened?" "Reply: Hes in ICU, he wrecked his truck lastnight." No fucking way! 3 miles away from my house, he hits a tree head on, at about 50-60, without any seat belt.

Me and a group of friends go visit him after school. Its bad. Alot of broken bones, off the top of my head, leg, & ribs, fluid in his lungs... and his face is all sortsa messed up (airbag + no seat belt = nono.) I got a chance to talk to him, while he was awake. I said "Dude, whats the last thing I said to you?" .. "iono?" "DONT WRECK!" ... "oh....shit..nuh uh."

Anyways, it was a pretty emotional day. Especially for my female friend who he likes. She feels shes responsible, adter deniying him, like she did...

You let him drive off knowing he was drunk?

Sorry he had shitty day and got in a wreck, but I don't understand why somebody would let somebody go off and do that. What if he had hurt somebody else in addition to himself?

I'll stop preaching. You probably already know better, and you can't do anything about it after the fact anyway.

yeah dude im gonna be honest, that wasnt the best friend move there. IM sorry for your friend and hope he is okay. But you let a drunk, emotional upset man, who just got denied by a girl he really wanted drive? Id be willing to bet he ran into that tree on purpose. Not saying its something he would have done sober, but being drunk and emotional, he could have very easily be distrought and said fuck it. On a concious or unconcious level.
