only HOT AIR from my A/C 97 Town Car

Nothing has been moved, no repairs being made to the car.
All of the sudden, after running the heater when it was cold outside, the outside temperature increased and I felt like cooling the inside of the car. Selected NORM AC and what I got was a blast of HOT Air. Now, all I get is only HOT air, even when I press the VENT button.

Hot weather will come soon to Texas, please help.

I'm thinking Blend Door Actuator... the hot air in all modes indicates a stuck Blend Door, in the hot position.

I assume you checked the AC Compressor Clutch to see if it's engaging and spinning the compressor, if not, have a look. Check the fuses and the Power Distribution Box if the clutch isn't engaging.

The Blend Door does just that, blends hot / cool air to meet your desired needs. In the old days hot water flow control was used, now it's blend door.

In our Town Cars, and most large Fords the Actuator that moves that Blend Door breaks and leaves the door stuck in the last position you had it. Some folks also get the door flopping around when the actuator completely loses it.

Its not a fun repair, you get to remove the dash panel first, and even then its hard to get at. The actuator itself is cheap, but the labor is over 4 hours when you're not familiar with dash removal.

Some folks were kind enough to write up step-by-step instructions with photos, if you're interested search for Blend Door or Blend Door Actuator, or I can point you to them.

PS
This article isn't Town Car, but it has some very nice photos:

Thank you Towncar-Steven:

Have cold air again...! Grinning...! http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/townhall/webxicons/emotorcons/emo_smiley.gif

Out of desperation, of fear, facing an expensive repair bill, I did the following:

Opened all doors to vent the hot air, put one finger on the VENT button simultaneously pressing the AUTOMATIC button. Started de A/C, a few second later pushed the OFF button. Did this several times.

The last time, the A/C did not start but a lot of blue numbers showed rapidly in the dashboard display, changing from 25 to 125 and then only some dots remained blinking.

Then I heard a loud noise under the car floor and a sublime rush of cold air came through the vents...

I hope my experience will help some one with the same problem in the future. May save them some bucks from an unneeded repair.
