Ok so i got a new stereo to put in my truck(which ive done in other cars just fine) but when i got the old one out i ran into wiring problems...i have a orange wire to the lighter with a pigtailed wire coming off, a white wire that is allso hot adouble orange wire coming up with one hot and one not, a black wire. so at this point without connecting anything i find my dash light wont come on and when i turn on my lights the turn arrows stay on the dash as well as my brights indicater light.so im stumped....... if anyone has a clue please help

orange is usually the color code for the "light dimmer" on most stereos. Make sure it is not connected to anything else that would give it 12V all the time.

did you buy a wiring kit, i ask cause i had an 88 s-10 blazer which has the same wiring an i used the kit and hade no lighting prob

Actually thats surprising my 87 jimmy didnt have a dimmer wire, but my 89 blazer does. The 87 also didnt have an constant wire it was like my camaro i had to splice it into the lighter.
AS for the dash lights it sound like something might be shorted, or like paul said it could be hooked up to a 12v constant. Usually when any of the turn signal lights, or High beam lights come on, on the dash is when the light is burned out. So something is making the dash think that they are blown.
