motor swap on a 1st gen

My buddy bought a 1st gen Eclipse Base model.I have a 4g63 sitting at my dads house waiting to set in a car.I need to know if a 2nd gen wiring harness will work in the place of the 1st gen harness.My old wire harness was badly damaged so I am looking for an alternative route.Sorry if this topic has already been covered my computers been a little crazy lately.

I don't think it will work but it possible could with changing a few little things around... :dunno:

I doubt it, some of the major connectors are probably different, but you could always try.

Is the first gen a 1.8 or 2.0? What about this 4g63 you have, is a 6 or 7 bolt?
