ok i got the stock supercharger pulley on and i just bought a 3.4" pulley from my buddy

heres my

mods CAI
u-bend and res removed
180 t-stat
reprogrammed PCM
shift kit

im assuming im safe to drop down the pulley size

anyways my realy questions are

Will a Stock size supercharger belt with less then 1000 miles on it work for the 3.4

and does a local auto store(auto zone, lees, advanced.....) rent/sell pulley pullers to do the swap

if they do how do i go about removing the pulley and putting the new one back on

Ur should be fine dropping ur pulley size.

Your belt will work, but it wont be as tight as if you baught a new one and might slip a little... a belt is only about 15 dollars, it's prolly worth the money.

When i did my swap, i checked every local auto parts place/shop i could think of and nobody had a pulley puller... I eventually just rented one online and it was pretty easy, just send it back when your done and they give u the core charge back, no biggie. Your best bet is a performance shop, but they might not want to let u do it urself.

i stopped by a performance shop and they said 100 bucks to do it. but they said they would only do it if i let them do some tunning on it for the proper adjustments to accept the new boost which then would cost me 300

i dunno....autozone has like 4 pulley pullers to chose from but i dont wanna just keep renting them and seeing if they dont work

To alleviate possible slippage with the stock or Gates brand belts most of us use the GoodYear Gatorback. Under a $30 investment but worth it.

PN: 4060660 belt for 3.25” - 3.4” pulleys

yea, most shops are out to make money, not help you out. The total cost of renting the proper pulley puller is under 50 dollars, including shipping and you have a two week window to get the swap done. Honestly, it's the best option because you're getting a product that is designed exactly for pulley pulling on the 3800. On top of that, it will come with decently detailed instructions on how to do it step by step and a most of the time, a number to call to get more help if you need it. It's worth a little extra hassle.

The following sites rent pullers:

zzperformance.com
3800performance.com
pfyc.com

i went through PFYC and had no trouble at all.
