92 taurus lite flashes code 51 what is it ?

One of two things:

You got a short to ground in your air bag system

And/or

your air bag diagnostic monitor is fried..

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that is what code 51 intels.

NOTE: you need not be concerned about the air bag deploying accidentally on you, because the thermal fuse in the diagnostic monitor is melted, eliminating power to deploy the air bags.
