Clutch... DAMN IT!

ok, so i hop in my car after its been sitting at my parents house for about a month, and i fire it up. Starts like a champ, and everything is great (as usual :grinyes: ) anyway, i go to back out of the garage and the clutch peddle drops to the floor, so i pump it a few times, and clutch peddle regains "firmness" and i pull out of the garage, and pop the hood... Clutch Fluid level was good, so i figured it must have gotten a bubble or to in the line since it sat for so long. well, i get down the driveway, and take it out or reverse, and get out. (had to run inside to get my cell phone) and i come back, and go to put the car in first, Peddle is soft again! so i pumped it up, i was kinda concerned at this point. So after pumping the clutch a few times, it regains pressure, and i started down the road, i had trouble getting into second, had to "double clutch" *kick the peddle twice* to get into second, so i turned around and went back home. double clutching again to put the car in first, and i pulled back into the driveway. i immediately thought, Master cylinder, however, their is very little clutch fluid on the floor board, just bairly enough to feel just above the 4th peddle (foot rest) so is it possible that the lines just need to be bled again? or do i infact need a new master cylinder? car has 55XXX miles, stock clutch, stock lines, dot3 redline fluid, mods in sig. :screwy: thanks guys!

Try bleading the lines, and if taht doesn't work, then try the master cylinder. Did you look at the slave cylinder at all?

Well it will leak fluid until it dry up, and the clutch will stay to the floor all the time, if your floor mat is wet, im 100% sure its was master cyclinder, I been there  . and I bet most people here did too.

It's usually the slave cylinder that goes.

If you have fluid in the cabin then it would be Master Cylinder...I think I only paid like $60 for mine...I went to Autozone...

Quoted for the truth. Exact same thing happened to my buddies Del Sol, both of my dad's trucks, and my other buddies RX7. Actually, I bet you have two problems, the slave and the master. I dont think the master should be leaking any shit, but the lack of pressure except when you pump it is probably due to the slave cylinder.

Speaking from experience my car basicly did the same thing, and I replaced the slave cylinder and bled it and all was good.

Sorry man I dont want jack this threat  . Since we in clutch topic, I replace my clutch master cyclinder few month ago, and now when it depress and about to let it go, it make a click noise, any ideal.

Mine makes the same noise Killa....I think it has always done that though... I remember there being another conversation about it in another thread a long time ago and I think we came to the conclusion that it wasnt a big deal and most of our cars do it...I could be wrong though

Back on topic though. It is possible that it is both. Check the slave cylinder if you pull back the boot that goes over the rod and there is fluid in there then your slave cylinder is bad. But because you said there is fluid inside the cabin that makes me think your master cylinder is going bad.

ok so i re-bled the system 2 weeks ago with dot4 fluid, and car ran GREAT no leaks, no loss in pressure, peddle was firm. i just got back for spring break, and went to go for a drive, and their is fluid ALL OVER the carpet. i have a master cylinder on hold at the local Autoparts store, and everything i need to do the job, but my question is this, HOW CAN I GET THE STAINS OUT OF MY TAN CARPET!?!?!

Have it steam cleaned... I would pull it out of the car to have it done.
