you're right nearby to me, right? by the tri-state area? Me and two friends are going, maybe. We'd like to, a lot, but we need to work out how to get there. we'll probably end up taking my friend's old ass outback wagon.

Thanks man!! butttttt I'm moving to NC May 17th so I'll be outta our area. Believe me I'd jump down there for a road trip in a second..We did that for Woodstock and both Tibet freedom concerts at like the last min..Weekend festivals are the best times.

I'm going for Tool, I haven't even heard of most of those bands but maybe I'll like them.
My next door neighbor is this ~40 year old hippie guy that knows two of the members of Widespread Panic, he told me he can get us tickets and backstage anywhere they're playing, I already asked him if that holds true for Bonnaroo too and he said no problem.

I've heard of about half those people...
I'm definitely going. Not a big deal for me to either drive or fly...I can't wait.
Oh yeah, The Roots are also going to be there. I'm so excited!

I just got home and showered (no more patchouli smell!)...
I feel like the only people who know how I feel right now are the other people who were at Bonnaroo. I'm miserable to be home, I just want to cryogenically freeze myself until next year.
Favorite acts, anyone? Did anyone aside from Vinny and myself even go?

Everything I saw was fantastic. You obviously can't see everyone who performed. I went mainly for a lot of the more mainstream people and didn't get to see anyone I wanted to and I think I had a much better time because of that.
Some of the best shows I saw - Michael Franti & Spearhead, Manu Chao, Xavier Rudd, Widespread Panic (that was probably because of the drugs), North Mississippi All-Stars, STS9 (also drugs).
Best festival I've ever been to, I wish every day could be Bonnaroo.

My favorite performances there were:
Galactic, The Flaming Lips, The Nightwatchman, The Roots, Tool
Galactic, i didn't really stay long at. They were blowing me away, but i had to check out Flaming Lips.
The Flaming Lips put on a ridiculous show. I never really knew their music, so seeing them live was definitely an experience.
The Nightwatchman, aka Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave, was awsome, he plays a nylon guitar and harmonica, and sings with the old-school style of Arlow and Woody Guthrie, and Cash. Later on in the day, i met him, talked to him for a little, shook his hand, took a pic, and got an autograph!
The Roots put on the best show, imo. They were not nearly as amazing a show as lips or tool, it was definitely more entertaining though. They were able to get your attention and hold on to it for the entirety of the show, and they showed the most feeling behind their music. ?uestlove put on an long ass drum solo as well, it was nuts.
Tool was fucking amazing. I've reviewed them before, nothing's gone downhill since... infact, by the end, you hear the music stop, and you hear in the mic, "Ladies and gentleman... Tom FUCKING Morello", and there comes Tom Fucking Morello with his guitar and starts wailing away with his pioneer sound forever and a day while Adam Jones creates an ambient rhythm. I shat my pants.
Aside from the music, which was ALL good (the only 2 artists i wasn't feeling and had to leave was Damien Rice and The White Stripes, surprisingly), there was so much at Bonnaroo that made for a great time. I met so many really cool people there, and one dickhead who was such a tool. also met up with an AFer there, (sry i didn't call the next day Nicole, my phone died, and so did the car battery, so couldn't charge it.) I ate Gator again for the second time ever and realized again how its the most amazing food ever, got to see half naked or completely topless girls everywhere :p, took plenty of psychadelics, drank plenty of rum, played frisbee, talked with strangers, played on some expensive Gibsons in the Gibson tent, etc, etc. lots and lots of reasons i miss bonnaroo. The only things i'm glad about being home is: Fresh water (drinking, showering, etc), real bathrooms (some of those portapotties were... epic), and i'm out of the blistering Tenessee heat.
I've already decided to go next year, it will be just as fun, you should go too.
