We got about a foot in the last 2 weeks. I don't really care for snow, but it does look nice....until you have to drive in it.

There is some good news though. I live on the other side of the city from you and saw on the news tonight they were revising the totals down to 20'' to 25" (if that's any consolation.) The heavy snowfall that was scheduled to hit us is expected farther north and east from the Mohawk Valley to the Adirondacks. As I look out my window now it's snowing at a pretty good clip, it's picked up in intensity since 11 pm.

Damn that sucks.
You're crazy!! :screwy: I absolutely love snow. We've got 4 snowmobiles that haven't been on a decent trip in 10 years because we never get any good snowfalls anymore. I remember when I was growing up, we would get 10-15 feet drifts out by my house, and now I get lucky if they're 3.

The Weather Channel's Jim Cantorre (sp?) spent the day here in Syracuse with live reports about the storm here in the city. The snow's not so bad it's the wind that makes the situation worse.

That's only about a half hour drive from here. One good thing about that situation is that it's lake effect snow and compresses under it's own weight. That 144'' is actually around 60" on the ground now.The snow from this storm is denser and contains more moisture, so it's worse. Add to that once this storm leaves the area, the wind will whip around the low pressure system and go across the lake again with more snow for the area.

My college won't EVER cancel classes again. Many years ago, they did...students were rolling kegs down the sidewalks and jumping out of 4th story windows onto the snow. They pretty much vowed never to do it again, no matter how much snow we get.
How do you even move 12 feet of fucking snow? There is only so much space to put it...

Dumptrucks :screwy: Never heard of that before coming to school up here. However they do dump the snow into insta-melt machines in NYC that throws the melted snow into the sewers

Mike, a friend of mine from high school is up there with you...
Man, I wish we had that much snow. I would be on the snowmobile and fucking cruisin through the streets. My buddies and I were going to do that down town back home if we ever got a lot of snow and none of it was plowed. My one friend was going to drive and I was going to get towed on my snowboard and jump the big piles of snow that always built up in the middle of the streets.

We didn't get as much snow as some of you guys.....we just got a complete mix. It was about 8" of snow, followed by 5" of sleet, then about an 1" of freezing rain, then back to sleet, followed again by more snow. Total was about 14" if I remember.
The problem was that if you didn't clear off your walks or dig out your car by 4pm on Wednesday, everything turned into a giant chunk of ice. Thank god I have access to a front end loader. Dug out my car and the wifes car in about 30 minutes. Some of my neighbors told me it took them 2 days and about 12 or 14 hours of busting up the ice and then shoveling it out of the way to get their cars out. Snow blowers and plows were worthless after Wednesday.
I took 2 days off work and went out plowing with another guy.....38 hours in 2 days. I'm exhausted.
