ok i have a 1967 cobra motor came out of a 67 shelby cobra, not sure on what the cam lift and all that is, it does have edelbrock intake and 600 or 650 carb, all i know is i cant get it to idle under 1700 rpm, i tryed ever thing i know of i just cant get any lower, i try udjusting the idle screw any lower i just dies, i tryed to increase fuel pressure and lower it, ive tryed to udjust the screws in the front but that doesnt help. any info. thanks.

I do belive it is supposed to idle that high.

Is this the 302 you dropped in your car that you couldnt get to run a while back? Or am I thinking of someone else? If this is that same 302 motor then I dont beleive it was ever in a '67 shelby, not factory anyway. As far as I know the 302 didnt come out until 1968. Also if this is the same 302 I'm thinking of then there is absolutely no reason why it should have ti idle so damn high. It should purr like a kitten at 700rpms. I'd say you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Or you have your idle air screws adjusted way lean.

it might have ben a 68 all i know is it came out of a cobra not sure what year, yeah this is the same engine your thinking of, i dont think its soppose to idle that high, what should my fuel pressure be at its at like 7 or 8 right now,

The fuel pressure will be fine set anywhere between 5-7psi. You may need to rebuilt the edelbrock or throw a Holley on there instead. The Edel/carter/AFB carbs all fine carbs if you know how to tune them. In my personal opinion there is just more tuneability with a Holley. Do you have any way of logging your a/f ratio? I think you may have the idle air screws shut down so much that it kills it to idle, so it has to idle with fuel coming from the transition cirtcuit. Set fuel pressure to 5-7psi, check for vacuum leaks, and then give me an update. Also how much timing are you running?

what about demons are they any good, im not sure of my air to fuel i have a gauge in the car but its not hooked up, i dont know witch wires go wear any more, on the o2 there is 3 wires two black and one white, i whent to carb and now im not sure if i can use those 02s i think i can just hook up a 12v and a ground to the the other wires, then the other is the signal, also not sure on timing the pointer is broke and i caint tell exactly but im guessing its in the middle some were,

Demons are fine if you know what your doing and have the time to tune them. Sure they look better than your average holley, but in my experiance they are a pain in the ass to tune, the emulsion circuit is totally different then a holley. Also tech support from Demon absolutely sucks! Get a timing pointer on that thing. "In the middle somewhere" doesnt tell me jack shit, it could be dead on 0* or it could be 40*adv. Have you thought about taking the car to someone to get it straightened out? No offense, but it sounds like you have made a mess of a few things and really arent too sure what you are doing. While I agree getting out there and doing it is the best way to learn, its best with an advisor on hand.
