Need Urgent help S10

Hi, I have a 2000 S10 with a 4.3 Vortec, it also has the EDI ignition. The problem is that it will not start after sitting overnight. It turns over fine, just will not start. If I let it sit till late morning it will eventally start. It seems to be temperature related. I have found that when it will not start there is no power to the 12v wire at the coil. I have hooked a meter to this wire and monitored it while trying to start it, and it will show no voltage unless I repeatedly try the starter in short bursts, then suddenly the voltage shows up and it fires. I cannot find a wireing diagram that shows where the voltage should come from, or what could prevent it. Once it is started it starts and runs the rest of the day, and I mean it runs like a bear, no missing, nothing. I really need to figure out as I have to scramble for a vehicle to get to work every morning that it does not start.

Thank you for any input

Mike

The pink wire runs from the ignition switch through a fuse to the ignition coil.

Thank you for the reply. So would this lead me to think that I possibly have a bad Ignition switch?

again thank you

Could be ignition switch, or it could be a poor connection anywhere from the switch to the fuse, to the coil.

Awesome finally I am getting somewhere. To confirm, there is no sensor, relay, ect. between the switch and the coil, other than what you stated. This confirms what I suspected, but I could not find a diagram to look at.

I really appreciate you helping me!

Thanx

its usually the wire connector that runs to the ignition switch in the steering column - i believe there is a tsb about that for your year.
