:banghead:
I have just gotten a 97 grand prix se about four days ago. the car has been running like a top no forseeable problems. Then tonight I started the car and went on my marry way---it sounded and acted like it wanted to die. I got through the light and then to the parking lot accross the street and it died also the check engine light came on.

I have a habit to watch the thermostat of older cars(bad experience) and there appeared to be no problem with that. I tried to start the car and it would crank and immediately die.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:

I forgot to add that it is a 3800 series 2 engine. (3.8)

GOOD NEWS?
The car ran out of gas. the gas gauges are not working.
How do I fix them? The check enging light is still on, though?

I had my 1997 GP GT do something similar and it was the throttle position sensor.

Take it some where and have them read the code for the engine light.

The fuel level indicator is part of the fuel pump which is accessed through the trunk right next to the back seat area. I replaced my fuel pump, $290, which comes with a new indicator, and it needs adjusting but I don't want to take it back out right now to bend the arm.
My ex-girlfriend paid $400 to have the indicator replaced on her '98 Jimmy. I think she got ripped off even though the gas tank had to be dropped.
