Overheating?

I'm looking to buy a cold air intake for my 1997 Grand Prix GT. Now the PCM is located in the air box and I was wondering if removing the air box and just using the cone filter would cause less air to run over the PCM, in turn ruining it because of heat.
Also I've seen a cold air intake system that uses a box with the cone located in the box. It is alot of money ($200)

When you add a CAI/FWI or any aftermarket intake/filtering system the air box has to be removed which will expose the PCM module. It is not a problem. Just secure it or tie it up. Also, many aftermarket intake kits have a place to put the PCM module like a tray. I have a Trasher CAI. To the best of my knowledge the PCM module has never overheated.
