Anyone had any luck getting a Z in FL?

I've been doing a lot of looking in FL for a good combination of price, low deposit, and decent delivery date. Has anyone had any memorable experiences in FL worth sharing? Specifically in the Orlando or Tampa area.

If I were you I would try Lakeland Nissan, they used to be owned by a terrible dealer that was run out of town by his reputation, they are now owned by the same dealer as Brandon Mitsubishi and I know they are working hard to cahnge the reputation of the former dealer. I would also try Hill Olds Nissan in Winter Haven, Tim Hill and his dad run that store and Tim is a pretty reasonable guy. One other on to try is Parker Nissan in St Augustime, the dealer there came from the golf industry not tha automotive industry and he is trying to do things a little different. Good Luck

I went to every dealer in O-town and got the run around.. Unhappy with one dealer who doesn't want to give me my 1000.00 check back (even though we didn't agree on anything.. it was a good faith to put me on the list.. )

Anyway, I picked up my Redline Touring 6sp in Mobile, AL this weekend. My dad was in the right place at the right time, delivering another vehicle there when lo and behold, there sat my beautiful Z. It was a backed out pre-order. 2 days later, she's home in my garage.

I went through NissanDriven.com and searched every dealer within 500 mi, and called every one that had a car listed on the site. Nada. If you are interested in a Silverstone Touring, the dealer I bought mine from in Mobile, AL will have one arriving 10/11. Chris Myers Automall - ask for Brett and tell him Tracie sent ya. Good luck friend!

Tracie--

Which dealer in Orlando was it that you had trouble with?

I ordered a CS Performance at Ferman Nissan in Tampa - MSRP
w/ no extras - very good experience, so far.
Order goes in Oct. 10, delivery 60 days later (Ferman only orders 5-7 a
month, I guess to assure realistic delivery dates. ??

Brandon Nissan was bumping MSRP $4000 - greedy

Good Luck - I'm going crazy waiting already - - - -

I don't think it was the dealer as a whole as much as the dumbarse sales guy I dealt with. He didn't have a clue. He kept me waiting for over 30 minutes while he laughed and joked with his buddies, then told me "Um, you'll have to come back when the business office is open - but I think the deposits are non-refundable." The dealership has not cashed my check yet (they've had it for over a month), and the only paperwork I filled out at the time was an authorization to run my credit.... So if they cash it, that's when I'll pitch a fit.

When I have time, I'll go back down there and talk with the manager.

2 dealers I wouldn't by from in Orlando - so as not to flame them, I"ll post their initials and you can figure it out.

U.N. - Dumbarse sales guy mentioned above.
C.N. - Told me MSRP on the first visit (to reserve one of the cars coming in in December), when I came back the next day to put money down, it became 5% over MSRP since I'd never purchased a vehicle there before. Sleaze.

Other notes:
R.N - Has one sitting in their showroom that the OWNER bought, wants "best offer".. heh

So to make a long story short, I didn't have "perfect" experiences with these guys. But who normally does? I DID have a perfect experience with the dealer I ended up buying from, Chris Myers in Mobile, AL. Just had to drive 500 miles each way :)

Tracie-

I know exactly who you are speaking. Those dealerships you mentioned in Orlando were the ones that prompted me to start this thread. I just recently tried contacting a dealer in Merritt Island and one in Titusville and Melbourne. So far the one in Merritt Island seems pretty straight up.

So far the Tampa dealers seem pretty shady. I need to give the one in Lakeland a try.

The dealer I bought from has a Silverstone Touring available still.. :)

I saw someone driving around by Waterford Lakes today on my way home from work in a White (maybe Silvverstone) 350Z. This is only the second one I've seen in Orlando. The other one I saw was definitely white and near UCF.

Man I want to order mine already! Probably won't happen until first of Nov though. Some of you think the waiting for the order to come in is bad---waiting to order isn't much easier!

Now why you have to go and show me that? <sigh> Less than a month till I get to place my order. A lot of you might be saying "why don't you just order NOW?!" Well, I'm getting married at the end of the month and financially that is a little higher on the list. Some couples get houses after they get married-- we already have that so we are getting a Z ;)

I've seen a Z at Beck Nissan in Palatka. I'm suppose to get my pre-ordered Z at the end of this month at Parker Nissan in St. Augustine. It is one of four to be delivered to the dealer. I put down the deposit last June. I get it a MSRP.

Got my 350Z Track model in Tampa at Courtesy Nissan. Paid below sticker also. The dealer had so many pre-orders, Nissan allocated some extras. I got the one Track model. There was 2 remaining on Sunday, both silver Touring models.

How much below sticker are we talking about? I

had spoken with someone from Courtesy and got terrible service. I've just placed my deposit down with Bill Ray in Orlando and so far they have been great.

Basically there is the MSRP + the area markup it is called if I remember. Basically I got the area markup cut. So it put it right around MSRP. As far as service goes....they are not letting anyone drive the new Z's until you work up the numbers and agree. I kind of like that because mine only had 7 miles on it. The Touring is nice but once I saw the Track it was a easy decision. I love this car. Never had anything like it and so far it is worth every penny spent. The only downside is everyone..I mean everyone stares at the car and everyone wants to see it or ride in it.

Area markup? I have my paperwork right in front of me for the deposit I put down last saturday that breaks down all the charges--- there is no mention of an area markup. I'm just down I4 in Orlando. Sounds like they are blowing smoke.

The whole reason I stopped talking to Courtesy is because they were being shady in regards to pricing with me. I asked them to clearify where their numbers were coming from and they stopped talking to me.

Did you shop around?

Well I paid 35k for the Track if that helps. It listed at 39k. That was the sticker. The other Nissan dealers didn't have the cars in my area. Plus I wanted the Super Black Track which they had with the Charcoal interior. I am hearing alot of different dealers freaking marking them up like mad. It sucks that Nissan lets the dealer do that. I will dig up my exact info for you later and email it to you. Hopefully it will help you get a better deal.

OtownZ

I hate to break it to you man, but $34k is list on the track---with options and stuff $35k seems about right. I don't know where you got the $39k is what it is listed at--- but take a look at kbb.com or even nissandriven.com.

My contract is written up at $28k for the Enthusiast. Adding options adds a few pennies, but the price on the options is the exact same on kbb and nissan's website.

I think they were trying to make you feel all warm and fuzzy about getting some great deal when all you got was retail. Again, this is the reason why I didn't want to deal with Courtesy.

haliaz
11-20-2002, 08:59 AM
Well even if I paid retail...it was still worth every penny. I love this car. It is just a blast to drive. I was going to pre-order but I had a lease that I wasn't coming up until next year..then all of a sudden a friend wanted to buy it so I got the Track they just had in. I do know other dealers where marked up even more..which is nuts.

OtownZ
11-20-2002, 10:30 AM
Oh I don't think you overpaid. But I think they misled you into thinking you were getting a better deal than you actually were. Like I said, they tried to tell me what "Sticker" price was. When the price they gave me didn't match any other info listed anywhere else---even Nissan I asked them to explain where they got their figures. When they did and gave me a break down the numbers they gave me STILL total the price they gave me. There was about a $350 discrepancy.

This is the reason I started this thread. There are a number of dealers that are very honest and upfront. And finding the good ones that are offering good prices isn't easy.

haliaz

I agree with that. Lots of dealers are just being jerks with marking the car up so much. I don't think the markups are as bad as the Honda S2k when it hit the market. Have you driven the car yet ? I know most dealers will not even let you drive it.
