I have a 97 Jetta that I installed an aftermarket Radio with a CD player about six months ago. Everything worked great until now. The constant power wire (yellow on the radio harness) has power, but the ignition (red on the radio harness) wire does not and as a result the radio will not operate. The other anomaly is the chime to indicate the key is in the ignition with the driver door open does not sound either.
Radio fuse is fine check with a meter, is there a relay that operates the ignition chime and hot lead from the ignition that is not delivering power to the radio or is it the ignition switch?
Appreciate any help
Thanks

Replace the ignition switch electrical portion, its about 30.00 at the vw dealer and you have to remove the steering wheel, switches and all.

Thanks, I have contacted the local VW dealer and the part is in stock between $30.00 to $40.00.
