Hobby Lights

I'm currently in the process of trying to create a dedicated workspace,somewhere to build my models.I have all the basics sorted.One area I want to address is lighting.I'm looking for a task light.Something that can preferably fit or clamp onto my workbench and provide good lighting when I model in the evening and be adjustable so I can set it in different positions so I get the light where I need it.I've seen many different types of lamp,some with ordinary bulbs,some with daylight bulbs,others with flourescent tubes.I wondered what you guys use? Can any of you recommend a good light? Or somewhere that sells lights specifically for hobby use etc.Thanks,Steve.

Since you're in the UK this doesn't become such a straight forward question to answer when it comes to 'where to purchase'.

It's great because it can be positioned wherever you need light shone and the magnifying glass can be used when attacking those fine details (which I know you do)

I suggest the light above as well as a pair of halogen torche lamps(one on either side of your desk).

with the halogen lamps, you should paint your walls and ceiling white so you don't get "color bleedover" from the color of your room, and better light reflection. then put a nice checkered flag border around the top because all car guys like seeing checkered flags!! haha

anglepoise lamps seem to be the best, ordinary bayonet or screw fitting, can be poisitioned however you want and you can get them with either a base or a desk clamp. they're about £20-30 too, so they're not too pricey.

i wouldn't reccomend flourescent tubes, as they "flash" about 60 times per second, they can make your eyes hurt after quite a short time, go with incandescent bulds.
