We have somebody building a fence for us and they're digging the holes for the fence posts. He just hit a gas line and broke it. The whole neighborhood smells like gas....what should I do? Should I leave? :D Oh wait, a gas person just got here...I'll go take pics, brb. :D

Sure stay there. Its always a good idea to hang around a gas leak. Nothing bad could possibly happen. ;)

Who's old multi-colored Mazda is that?

Uh Oh! Looks like someone forgot about the 2-day rule! In WA sate, you're supposed to call the utilities company 2 days before you do any digging, and they're supposed to come out and mark off all the gas, electric, cable, and water lines. I believe you're subject to fines if this doesn't happen...

yeah, we had them come and do that. For some reason, they didn't mark this one. So I guess it's not really the digger's fault.

Actualy I think it might be a 626, it looks a little big for a 323.

no, that still means its an old Shoe Box shapped Mazda!!!!

WHY?

The only ones left on the road here are driven by the lowest common dominator of society. There is not a single one in the country that is legaly alllowed on the road, and all of them have thier own private fleet of scrap metal trucks that follow them everywhere hoping they will break down before all that valuable steel rusts away to nothing.
They are also a favorite cheap get away car as anyone with a toothpick can pick the looks and steal them, there isn't a single insurance company in he country that will touch them, and if you showed up at a car show with one that had been turned into a show car that reaction would be, well, interesting.

Not meaning to put you down kicker, but WTF were you thinking?

Especialy you own two significantly more respectable vechiles.

LMAO!! :spit::hehehe::hehehe:

That's one of the funniest phrases I've heard in a while :D

I actually think that car is what was badged as a "GL" in North America. I may be wrong, since I've NEVER seen a sedan one, but the front end is basically identical to the GL Hatch's front end. The GL was replaced by the later model 323, this time badged a 323.

Well my aunt sold it to my sister very cheap for a first car, after that she got a brand new GMC Yukon and this thing just sat at her house for months. I was looking at it and thought it could be a very hard project. So I decided to go for it. This is what it looked like when I got it, minus the nifty wheel covers.

This is after I cleaned the left side, scrubbed it for hours. The right side is how dirty the whole car was....

so that's what kept me busy all last summer. It was mostly just to put it in the local car show to beat a couple of my friend's cars....
and it's a GLC, which is the older version of the 323

When I left the local council, they were still trying to extract payment from this homeowner and his contractor.

Here's what happened...

The guy wanted to do some landscaping on his property so he could get another house on to his lot and do what in NZ is called a cross-lease. So he hires a contractor to excavate some earth and construct a retaining wall.

All appears to be going well until the concrete truck appears to fill concrete around the foundation posts. Concrete goes in hole, hole isn't full so more concrete is added. More concrete poured into holed pretty soon most of the truck load has gone in the first two holes.

Communal headscratching ensues...

Contractor pulls out large post to check where concrete has gone. Hole is mainly empty... and concrete seems to be draining out side of hole...

Communal headscratching ensues...

Suddenly someone looks at house and then notices a manhole at back of section. Lift manhole cover and see concrete slowly making its way down sewer. Contractor has put retaining wall holes through side of sewer.

Contractor rings council up as homeowner is sure to be pissed when he can't flush anymore as his sewer is filled with concrete...

Council sewer maintenance team spend most of evening, night and early morning flushing concrete down sewer and collecting contents at other end before it solidifies at main sewer.

End result - rather large bill for maintenance work and for repairing sewer line - they were still arguing about it several months later.

I have to say you have certianly done an impressive amount of work on the car, its just on a 323 its rather, well wasted. :bloated:

I could say the same about your SiR, namly because its still a civic...But, to each his (or her) own, I figure if its cool, and clean, give them props, if its fast when it wasnt stock, same deal. I think its bitchen in comparison to what it was, so I give major respect to it.

I haven't done anything to my SiR since I got it, save install an Alarm, two sets of tyres and a clutch. Namly because its only a Civic. :finger:

Dont get my wrong, Im not hasseling Kicker, and he knows that.
Its just that it is a very unusual car to turn into a show car. There is absolutly nothing even remotly special about the old show box Mazda 323. They are quite simply one of the worst cars ever made.

However I suppose that adds an air of irony to turning one into a show car, and if it beats his mates in a local show, then he can certianly be that little bit prouder of his acievhments.

But all that said I still think its a lot of money and time and tallent to waste on an old shoe box. :smoker2:
