99 GA - Blower Motor Resistor

Friends 99GT had fan speeds 1 and 2 quit while was in the car with him. Replaced blower motor resistor, now only 1, 2, and 5 work (3 and 4 don't work). At least I think 1 and 2 work - they are so weak it's hard to tell if they're on.

Does anyone have the pinout and expected resistance for a good blower motor resistor - I'de like to ohm out the old and new resistor, see if they are both bad?)

Usually looking at the old resisitor you can tell they are bad with out testing.

Maybe some of the pins on the plug connector are not connected, bent or broken :dunno:

Check the fuses & relays(under the hood fb) too for the HVAC unit and blower motor.

You can test the electrical continuity from the wire harness to see if the motor is getting the appropriate voltages.

Hook a voltmeter to the leads (with key on) turn the hvac fan control and the voltage should raise and lower as you turn the control.
Same test can be done on the resistor wire harness to see if the powers getting through it.

but I bet a fuse or relay is bad :grinyes:
