So, I just purchased a 2001 Eclipse Spyder GS and he Previous owner had taken ut the Infinity CD player and installed a different one. When I purchased the car today, he took out his and gave me the stock Infinity CD player to reinstall, I hooked up he small and large white plugs and the antenna plug to the back of the CD Player but I do not have either of the black round cables in the car that will match up to the 2 on the cd player. I have one round one with 6 pins but it does not fit into either of the plugs. I entered the code the dealership gave me then pressed CD or AM/FM and nothing happens. I can put a CD in it and it will take it and eject when I press eject. I do not have any digital display so I have no idea if the codes even work or when i is on. Please help!! The display only shows the clock at the far right, nothing else. I will be taking pics tonight if it will help anyone.

why didnt the guy put the old system back in it when he sold it? Or even better, why didnt the dealership? Without pics I am not really sure what you are talking about, but my guess is that you will need to replace some wires with a factory harness because he more than likely cut and spliced wires for the aftermarket head unit (it probably wont be cheap). Put up some pics if you can and maybe we will have a better idea...or at least go back to the steelrship and ask them for help.

Ok here are some pics: http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w315/sfarley17/

Edit: So I looked closer last night after work and they have taken out the stock amplifier and all the stock cabling and have ran new speaker wire to bypass all the cables they have taken out, so its ready for an aftermarket CD player, is there anywhere where I can find a cable to convert from speaker wire to the dim plug? Or do I just have to wait until I can afford a new CD player?

What the hell kind of ghetto system did they have in there that they were using stripped wires to go to a head unit?! I dont think I have ever seen an aftermarket unit that doesnt use RCA cables or some kind of plug. As for trying to splice the wires into a dim plug...good luck because I have no idea what pins cover what channels, and with that many wires being spliced in such a small area there is a good chance you might either get a short or interference between channels. I would say just get used to the sound of your own voice until you can afford a new player (and for gods sake man, please switch those speaker wires to RCA or something).

Also, if they took out the stock amp, you will need to get a new amp otherwise it will sound like crap, or not work at all. If you would like a stock infinity amp let me know and I cansend you mine for cheap cheap.

Lol, they had a DCD player/CD player combination thing. I think they just ripped the plug out and left the speaker cables there, the speaker cables run straight to the speakers, so they did not have an amp, the speakers are aftermarket. I hooked up a crappy tape player last night and it sounded good enough for me, but it is a crappy tape player so it did not stay for long. I put the stock cd player back and put the console dash back up so it doesn't look all ghettofied until I can afford another cd player. I appreciate the offer for the infinity amp, but unfortunately they have taken out the plug from the infinity cd player to the amp already unless you know of any adapter cable by chance? But shouldn't I at least get something on the display by hooking up the 2 white plugs? I only get the time.

Um, just a little FYI, running speakers right off a head unit is not a good idea. A good player will probably have like 25watts RMS power, maybe a little more/less, which is hardly enough to run a single speaker, let alone 6. I am not sure 100% what all wires I have left from my stock system because I left them in the car (i havent taken out my stock amp yet, so as far as I know all the factoy wires should still be there if thats something you were interested in). As for the display, not sure about that. I am thinkin one of the dim plugs might control the display because with an aftermarket system all you will get is a clock on the display (fine with me because thats all I want it to be).
