ok so im looking into buying this civic hatch from a guy close to me. Before i bought it i just wanted to ask some questions to people who really know what their talking about because i know a little but im not to experienced when it comes to engines.
ok so heres the engine and mods :
2000 B16a2 motor (mint with less than 80k miles)
2001 ITR tranny with LSD(no grinds)
ACT 6 puck clutch with heavy duty pressure plate
Custom tubular manifold(made by a friend of mines but is very mint)
Mint precision sc61 turbo
ITR cams
AEM cam gears
Spearco intercooler (3.5 inch thick)
greddy type s bov
2.5 inch intercooler piping
precision 780cc injectors
walbro 255 lph fuel pump
Hondata s200 with boost option(FULLY TUNED BY MILLER FROM NRG TECH RACING)
3 inch downpipe and catback to a es oval 3 inch muffler
ITR intake manifold
currently tuned to 11 PSI from NRG TECH in connecticut
Heres the questions :
1. Is running 11 PSI on this engine/setup safe? i dont want to blow the engine.
2. Is the turbo setup he has on there any good?
3. Is the turbo setup worth 1,300$? he said he will lower price by 1,300$ without the turbo kit.
4. Any opinions or any advice would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

if you're not experieced with engines, why are you looking to buy a can with that much work done?
admittedly, from my perspective it's not that much, but i have a good understanding of all this.
you'd be better off learning all engine/forced induction stuff first, and then tuning your own car. you also get the satisfaction of knowing it's all your own work.

Only if the engines compression ratio has been reduced.

Honda stopped making the B16a, along with the rest of the DOHC VTEC B series engines in 1999.
The last year that cars sold with a B series engine in them was 2000, and only in parts of the world that 1999 stocks left.
So your mates 2001 ITR gear box is not really from a 2001 model car :)
Are you sure its not a K20a?
Either way, 11psi on a K20 or a B16 is more than I would want to run on an un-modified engine for any length of time.
The internals were never designed to handle that much stress, and it will shorten the engines life.
Otherwise it sounds like its been put together very well, it looks well thought out, and I'm sure it runs extremely well.
It would also be very reliable if driven gently, I would just always be a little worried that that much boost is going to break something.
Run it at 6psi and I would happily expect to have a long and rev happy life, remembering of course its being asked to do things i was never designed to.

Moppie, the B16a2 is actually in 99-00 civics. I think it was originally in 92-95's, then it was discontinued, and then they brought it back. Who knows.
Anyways, listen to what Moppie said. 11 psi is too much boost for any stock engine and it will shorten the engine's life in half (no doubt about it). VTEC's already run on very thin pistons and rods to maximize RPM range and produce more power in return. They're light engines too, which reduces the car's weight. It's like taking an O2 canister, making its walls thinner, and loading it with twice as much oxygen. You'd be asking for trouble.
The rest of the modifications sound well thought out to fit the setup. What I wouldn't recommend is the "Custom tubular manifold". I don't know how experienced your friend is, but that's kind of sketchy. Metal work seems to be a lost art, and I wouldn't recommend some guy making an exhaust manifold for a car that will be driven constantly. You're looking at leaks from bad welds, improperly fitted metal, wrong bolt sizes, metal specs, spacing, gaskets, or whatever. There's no warranty on stuff made by friends.
BTW, turbo kits run anywhere from $1000 to $5000 depending on the stage of the turbo. He should be taking off more money if he doesn't include the turbo in my opinion.
