wouldnt it be cool if the police pulled you over for NOT speeding and handed you a reward... kinda like a random thing every once in awhile. You know... I leave a little early, drive at the limit, save tonnes of gas... I mean, so much more fuel and that could be saved by just slowing down ten or fifteen... just some random two cents

you wouldn't be rewarded for obeying the rules, you're expected to obey them.

now, if every cop was like Sherriff John Bunnel, there wouldn't be any crime.

You reward is not paying a $250 fine and receiving a hike in insurance.

Granted it'd be sweet as hell if we had an Autobahn, I just don't have that much faith in American drivers to not clog it up with idiocy.

common misconception about autobahns, there are only a few de-resticted autobahns. most have speed limits. also, if the police patrolling the de-restricted ones think you're not driving safely or responsibly, you can be stopped.

You are rewarded. You get schools, hospitals, roads and the police.

If they did that, people would bitch about getting pulled over for no reason, and that the cop wasted their time.

Sounds like this thread doesn't belong in this forum. Politics, Investments & Current Affairs are supposed to be the topics. Someone should move it to COT or maybe Stress Release.

Did I mention I think the government is behind all this??

yeah... he's right though... this has nothing to do with anything. Add to that you shouldnt have to be rewarded to do whats right... I suppose when your a week away from a paycheck and your fridge blows up you start thinking about crazy shit like this...
theres always internet begging... saw it on 20/20.. any takers? I just need 7500 people to send me a measly 3 dollars... I take pay pal

Which is a part of contributing to society

sort of, i wouldn't classify paying taxes as contributing to society, everyone with an income pays taxes, it's a legal thing you have to do.

i'd say contributing to society would be like helping people, donating money for local causes and the like.

Well damn. Guess that furthers my dreams of having car fast enough that cops won't be a problem. Btw, do they have any "special" police cars roaming the Autobahn? Like here they have Camaro's and Corvette's in some places.

they're not M5s, they're 535Ds with M-Power bodywork.

the police here have everything from 5-Series to Impreza STis and Evo FQ-360s.

Pulling over a car without "probable cause" that the occupants had been involved in or commited a criminal or misdeamenor act is in the USA a fourth admentment violation of our consitutional rights. Until that idiot Bush got the Homeland Security Act passed.

if they want to pull you over, they will.

one way or another, it'll happen. they'll just make up some crap about your driving, you'll say "no i didn't" and they'll call you belligerant and everyone believes the cop.

My local police station runs a fleet of BMW 3s and 5s.
still the good ol' transit van though....

in the UK, proper traffic police all have video cameras in their cars and they tend to film everything. If you get pulled over by them on the roads, it's pointless arguing because they would have you on tape doing something stupid, otherwise, they wouldn't just pull you over for the sake of it.

Notice though, that I talk specifically about traffic police.
Then again, most modern met. cars also have on board cameras so these days, it's pretty certain that you'll be on video if you're stopped.

I don't think I'd want to be pulled over for an "attaboy", for a couple of reasons. First, it would be an inconvenience and make me later than I already was. :icon16: Second, the police are there to enforce laws, and pulling over the good people would divert officers from chasing the bad guys.

your right... i was thinking about on the way to work today... if I got pulled over, it would be an interesting story to tell, but i'd still be late.... then again, I always leave early and arive ten minutes at least before my shift starts

Last year cops here in LA did something similar to what's in the link below. I didn't hear too much about it except they were also giving out tickets to a sporting event (not the Lakers or the Clippers so I didn't pay too much attention).

In other words, murderers and rapists are getting away with their crimes because the people that "Protect and serve" us are doing this shit.

Police Ready To Pull Over Good Drivers

POSTED: 10:58 am EST March 9, 2006

AUSTIN, Texas -- Drivers pulled over on Travis County, Texas, roads this week could be pleasantly surprised to find out they'd been targeted for driving well.

The Travis County Sheriff's Department and the Round Rock Express minor-league baseball team announced a program to reward good drivers with free Express tickets.

The team is joining with law enforcement on a "Drivers Safety Week" initiative.

Sheriff Greg Hamilton said his deputies will stop motorists just as they would during a routine traffic stop. He acknowledged that some drivers are likely to be upset before an explanation.

"Drivers Safety Week" will take place in Travis County from March 7-12. The Express are donating tickets to 2006 home games at The Dell Diamond to the Travis County Sheriff's Office. The tickets will be used as incentives to motorists to drive safely and observe traffic rules, according to a news release from the team.

Sheriff's officials said the Express has given the department about 200 tickets, which will be distributed by 20 deputies.

During "Drivers Safety Week," Travis County Motor and Traffic Units will be rewarding motorists who they observe to be driving safely and courteously and obeying the rules of the road. These individuals will be stopped by the officers and presented with a "Be Our Guest" card good for two tickets to a Round Rock Express home game, the team said.

"It is important that we patrol and enforce the traffic laws of the State of Texas, but it is equally important that we recognize the safe drivers of our community," Hamilton said. "That is why we are pleased that the Round Rock Express have agreed to team up with us for this event."

The program was introduced on a trial basis in 2005 and is being expanded to its own official week this year.
